“Terrific location, great to walk down stairs to breakfast!”

There are two guest suites above Willie's Bakery, in the heart of downtown Victoria. My boyfriend and I stayed in the Red Suite for 3 nights. It's in a great location, close to the water & a brewpub, oh and you get certificates to eat at the lovely bakery each morning (or for lunch I assume)- and it's not just baked goods, they do a great omelet. The only quibble I have is the lack of darkness, the drapes are minimal, and the large window overlooking Wattington Alley doesn't have any kind of window treatment. It's a quirky little apartment, with windows on the side of the bedroom overlooking the kitchen and a large (again) BRIGHT skylight! When the twilight lasts till 10pm, and it gets light at 5am, there could be issues (bring eyeshades!) Other than that, it's just lovely. Only heard minimal pots and pans sounds from the bakery early in the am, unfortunately no baking aromas! I thought it a good value, and it sure wasn't a plastic room, it had lots of character! Full kitchen, small fridge. You'll enjoy it as much as we did, I hope.

“Not a place for "weight-watchers"”

Pros':
- Room size / decor (like having your own downtown appt)
- Breakfast
- Friendly service
- Central location, close to the shops and harbour-front
- Excellent rates if you stay 1 week

Con's:
- The two suites are located directly above the bakery and occassionally heard noise in the early hours of the morning
- Food just too good and put on a few pounds during out visit!

Great stay overall and will no doubt return in the future.

“Great Place to be on Your Own”

My husband and I spent 3 nights at Isabella's Guest Suites. This is a good location for shopping and restaurants. Our suite consisted of a bedroom with sitting area, bath with tub and shower, dining room, and kitchen. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The rate included a $20 credit for breakfast or lunch in Willy's Bakery below. This is more a restaurant than bakery and the food is killer. Try their homemade gelato! It was great to have so much space. This is one of 2 suites and is suitable for a small family. My husband who spends many a night in hotels on business really enjoyed the unhotel-like atmosphere. So, if you do not mind doing without housekeeping, room service, or a concierge, Isabella's is a good choice.

“Isabella's Bestest!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 April 2005

We've stayed in many B&B's around the North American continent and in Europe and SouthEast Asia. We might have stayed in one as good as Isabella's - memory fails - but never in one better!

We stayed in 'the Red Room' overnight for our 36th anniversary and found every aspect of it to be delightful. The suite, the appointments, the beautiful bedroom all combined to make it feel like home right away.

The suite was dead quiet overnight, the smell of bread baking and then breakfast at Willie's as part of the deal was wonderful, and having our own private parking spot in downtown Victoria was as cool as it gets.

We'll be back and we live just a couple of miles away in Victoria!

“Best place to stay in Victoria, period!”

A recent stay in Isabella's Guest Suites has sworn me off from all of the other excellent places to stay in Victoria. The apartments (suites) are immaculate, incredibly-well appointed, and you cannot possibly ask for a better location (waking up to the smell of fresh baking bread at Willie's Bakery, directly below, caps the experience). Let the huddled masses think they're living the high-society life at the Empress... you'll know you've found the best place to stay in Victoria.
