Our party stayed here in mid December 2011 for a friends wedding.
As our group of family and friends was quite large, we had rented the entire place, and that worked out fabulously for us.
The staff were very welcoming! I commented the first evening that it felt like we were staying at a family member's place, rather than a hotel/inn. The sitting room was nicely decorated for christmas, and the decor throughout the house was very thoughtful.
The rooms were quite simple, with simple furnishings, but the bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was very clean and well stocked.
Took advantage of the breakfast both mornings, and was not disspointed, the benny was great, and after breakfast we were given freshly baked scones to snack on later.
We rarely needed to contact the gentleman who was running the place, but when we did he was courteous and prompt. The lounge upstairs served as a gathering place for our group, and we sang songs late into the night. I could imagine that if it weren't all family and freinds staying together that the noise from the lounge might have carried down the upstairs hall, but we didn't hear a peep from downstairs.
This was one of my first experiences in a bed and breakfast, though this place felt a bit more like an inn/guesthouse... however you choose to describe it, the experience was a great one, and I certainly reccomend it for a group! As for a couples getaway, I'll let you know, my girlfriend and I were so impresssed we're planning a trip back in the early part of the new year.
