“Great stay at Thanksgiving Weekend (Oct 2011)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We had a lovely stay at the Inn on the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. We were there so I could run in the half mrathon (also that weekend) and the stay was great. we initially stayed in the Laurel Wing this trip, however asked for a move over to the Erikson Wing for hte remainder. The Erickson side cant be beat-the Laurel wing is still a bit dated and if upgraded would provide a nice modern option to the lovely locaiton

Room Tip: Erickson Wing is a must

“Definitely not what I expected...”

We weren't looking for anything outstanding, just a decent room with a king bed to spend one night in Victoria while visiting friends. The Inn seemed to have a reasonable reputation and one of us had stayed there some years ago. We booked with hotels.com and paid an advance reservation rate to confirm the room. Arrived early (before noon) and were told there was no chance of an early check in as all rooms were occupied. No problem... we opted to go meet up with our friends for a while first. Back to the hotel at 5:30 p.m. and we were checked in to a small room with two double beds. Called the front desk to request a king room as reserved and were advised they would call us back. Received a callback a few minutes later and were made to feel like second-class citizens for using a third-party website; we were advised that no king bed rooms were available, but we were offered an upgrade to a suite for a 25% surcharge. Having just shelled out an extra $15 for self-parking in the separate parkade, we declined.

The room was small and musty, with only one bathrobe, a small TV, an empty fridge and, interestingly enough, a letter on the floor by the door which was dated 3 days earlier - belied the tale of the hotel being fully booked the previous night! The "balcony" was a patio with railing on the gravel roof.

There is only the one over-priced restaurant - no cocktaiil lounge or coffee bar. Room service comes with a mandatory 15% gratuity PLUS a $4 delivery charge! The pool was just that, a small hotel pool without a hot tub or any other amenities. Luckily, we spent very little time at the hotel. I will not stay here again.

Room Tip: Apparently, if you book directly with the hotel, you might get better service. From other reviews...

“Great Location, professional front desk staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

The co-worker I was travelling with insisted we stay in the Erickson wing and the professional front desk staff upgraded us without a hassel although the hotel was almost full. Although I did not see the rooms in the other part of the hotel I was very impressed with our room: two queen size beds, ENORMOUS bathroom with TWO sinks, large soaker tub and amazing shower.

We walked to a restaurant right downtown and it only took us 10 minutes. The location is great, right on the water in the Harbour, our room faced the Japanese Garden in the back of the hotel. Beautiful!

We really appreciated the efficient, friendly service at the front desk, and the staff looked very smart in their business attire - first impressions do count!

“Excellent Stay in Victoria”

We stayed at this lovely hotel for our 30th anniversary and would highly recommend it to all. We loved our beautiful room with the balcony view of the water front. Watching the seaplanes coming and going during the day was a treat... and yes we went on one of the seaplane excursions. Loved it.

Room Tip: Harbor View is wonderful.
