I've stayed at this hotel three times during the Victoria marathon. The start and finish are just a block away and the hotel is very nice. The rooms are quite large, parking was easy, very nice views, and even the restaurant was quite good (we don't usually think much of any hotel's restaurants).

We stopped in Victoria for a few days before attending a conference elsewhere in B.C. The hotel was part of a package by Victoria Clipper that included round trip for two from Seattle to Victoria, a night in Seattle, night in Victoria, and return night in Seattle following the conference. It was super affordable. January rates are amazing.

Okay, so (as the Canadiens are always saying)...final verdict: best hotel stay of my life, and I'm almost 70 years old and have travelled quite a bit and stayed in some very nice places.

There was one little bobble with a stain on the underside of the duvet, which was addressed within ten minutes and came with apologies and two vouchers for the breakfast buffet.

Friendly, prompt service, gorgeous surroundings, fabulous meal. I can hardly wait to go back and stay longer.

This is a huge hotel about a block from the Blackball Ferry terminal and the Clipper terminal. We had ridden the Clipper and walked to the Hotel, it was that close.

The first room was disappointing. We had requested a room with a view of the harbor, which we got, but the window was VERY small. We like to sit in front of our windows and watch the people, traffic, whatever. It had a balcony but the "railing" was concrete so we couldn't see thru it. We requested another room and was told we could get into it the next day.

The second day our luggage was in the second room and the room was great. Large double windows to sit in front of, and the balcony had a plexiglass "railing" so we had an unobstructed view. We don't tend to watch TV but it had a good sized flat screen. There was a blow dryer and the sinks were split. One in the bathroom and one outside. The lighting on the outside one left a lot to be desired - not good for doing makeup. The beds were comfortable and had extra pillows.

The front desk staff was friendly, helpful and very polite. We went to the lounge every evening and the bartender, Cory, was exceptional. Always polite, and the more we visited with him (when he wasn't busy with other guests) the more we liked him. He was always friendly, polite (as I said) and very helpful. Great guy!

The hotel is centrally located. It is just a few blocks to the Empress Hotel, the Royal British Columbia Museum, the Houses of Parliament, and downtown. Great walking distances to any of the above. When we went, early December 2011, it was super cold, but even still the distances weren't bad at all.

All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel - for the staff, location, and comfort.

We stayed three nights just before Christmas. The view of the harbor was so beautiful at Christmas with all the Parliament buildings and hotels and boats lit up. The king bed was really comfy, and I'm picky. We can hardly wait to return.
