“Lovely B&B only a few minutes ride from Downtown Vancouver”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 June 2010

I stayed here with my partner during June 2010 in the English Bay room for 14 nights. The host Jenny was always very helpful and we saw her most mornings during breakfast (cooked by her mother). There was always plenty on offer for breakfast, and we quickly grew used to being full to the brim until lunchtime.

The B&B is situated next to Arbutus St. where the #16 bus service runs straight to Downtown Vancouver within 15 mins. Assuming you arrive into YVR (Vancouver Airport) the B&B can be simply reached on the Canada Line SkyTrain and then the #25 Bus in roughly 30 mins. The public transport system deserves a quick mention as it is both cheap and covers Greater Vancouver very comprehensively (also integrated into Google Maps, so that Google can do all the route planning and timing for you!)

The room itself was quite large given it was the smaller of the two on offer, the bathroom was more than adequate, with a fantastic shower. The room came with a TV connected to the basic Shaw cable service (which we found great for watching CSI during our downtime - it seemed to be always on at least one channel!) There was also free access to broadband via ethernet (cable provided in one of the drawers) or wireless (though the signal strength was a little low in the English Bay room), and the speed was fine.

One of the great pleasures of a B&B versus a faceless hotel is that you get the opportunity to speak to other guests over breakfast. During our time we met plenty of others, some English, Belgian, Canadian, Australian and Swiss during our time there and everyone had some interesting story to tell and recommendations to give.

We found the B&B great for our 14 days in Vancouver and would definitely return if we get the opportunity to. Thanks Jenny!

“Great place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2009

We stayed in the English Bay Room for a week in late September 2009. Jenny, the host, was exceptionally helpful. Her Mom made delicious breakfasts each morning. It's located in a quiet, nice part of town. The rates are very good, especially for longer stays. Highly recommended!

“Friendly host and a convenient location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2009

Conveniently placed for the airport and near a bus route into Vancouver itself. We had the mini suite downstairs which was a bit noisy, but clean and comfortable. Jennie, our host, was great - giving us advice and maps for where to go and what to do. She even went and bought out day passes for the bus for us.

“the best bed and breakfast we have stayed in”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2009

This is an amazing place to stay. Jenny the host was extremely helpful - she gave us the bus concession tickets we needed and every morning gave us advice on the best way to do what ever activities we planned for the day.

The b and b is in an exclusive part of Vancouver and is a beautiful homestead. The breakfasts were wonderful- fresh fruit, cereal, yoghurt as well as a cooked breakfast that was different each day. We met some lovely people at the breakfast table which was a social occasion.

Our room was the Stanley Park room which was huge and overlooked the mountains. There is free internet service downstairs and it is near the bus stop to town ( you can walk) and easy walking distrance of several restaurants and a laundromat.

We really enjoyed staying here and have to say that this is the best b and b in our experiences in Canada, USA and the UK.

“Comfortable B&B, lovely host”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2009

My husband and I spent four nights at the Vancouver Traveller in Vancouver during our honeymoon in June 2009. Our host, Jenny, was very friendly and gave us lots of useful advice about places to visit during our stay and how to get there - she also provided us with bus tickets and maps of the area which were very helpful. Our room was spacious and very clean and had a little kitchen area with fridge and an ensuite bathroom. Breakfast was served in the main lounge each day and was very filling. Although located about a 30 minute walk from downtown, the walk into downtown was pleasant and there are a number of lovely restaurants located a 15 minute walk away. It is easy to catch a bus into downtown (they seemed to be regular) and Jenny provided us with all the information we needed in that respect. We had free use of a computer and the internet. We thought that the Vancouver Traveller provided very good value for money and we would definitely stay there again.
