“Beautiful place - disappointing hospitality”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 April 2009

On the rooms and location we would definitely agree with the other reviews. However, people should be aware that the B&B is presently up for sale and that this seems to have had a very negative affect on Inara's hospitality. We had planned to stay five nights, but had to return a day earlier than planned for work reasons. Even though we informed Inara of this two days in advance and offered to pay for the fifth night, she became extremely hostile and unpleasant. We saw nothing of her over our final two days but her reaction certainly soured our stay at the B&B. This is not the cheapest option out there and there should be a suitable level of hospitality maintained, regardless of other circumstances affecting the hosts. I would advise visitors to look for alternative options.

“Lovely introduction to Vancouver”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2009

Kitsilano is a great place to base yourself for a visit to Vancouver. It's a quiet neighbourhood with excellent facilities (organic supermarket, bookstores, coffee shops, all kinds of shopping) and its own big outdoor swimming pool, beach and outstanding views of the city and mountains beyond.

Inara was a great host - on our first night she provided us with a map of the city and showed us neighbourhoods to avoid, where to catch buses from, where to hire bikes and lots of other things that proved very useful.

Eating our breakfast outside on the patio was a wonderful way to start the day and even though the place was full, there was enough space that I never saw another guest.

Thanks for a lovely stay.

  • Liked — The location in lovely Kitsilano.

“An Absolute Gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2008

This is a wonderful place to stay in Vancouver. The Kitsilano area is full of grand houses in a quiet leafy suburb, yet within a five minute walk of 4th Avenue where you can find restaurants and shops, and a fast bus into downtown.
Camelot Inn is a beautiful house run by a lovely, helpful lady called Inara. She has ceased to operate as a Bed & Breakfast but has beautiful rooms which you can use on a self catering basis.
There is everything you could possibly need in the rooms which are large and beautifully decorated. A small kitchen area with two rings, a fridge, a sink, toaster, microwave, fresh coffee with cafatiere etc.
I would have liked to take the attached bathroom home with me it was so lovely with large bath, separate shower stall etc.
We finished our tour of Canada here with a three nights stay, and I wish it could have been longer. If you are happy to self cater in a stylish, comfortable and beautiful house - look no further!

“great experience”

I booked a room in the Camelot for some friends who were visiting Vancouver. They (and I) were quite pleased with the accommodation. The bedroom was beautifully furnished, the bathroom spacious and modern. Everything was very clean. The common areas were also beautiful. The Camelot is in a historic home - 80-90 years old - with a lot of character. It's in a quiet neighborhood, with easy access to the shops, restaurants, and buses on either 4th Ave or Broadway. It's about 7 blocks from the seawall.

The hosts were very accommodating with some late schedule changes.

“Excellent B & B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2007

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights in September 2007. We booked it on the strength of the reviews on this site and it met all our expectations. The rooms were lovely, spotlessly clean, and the location was excellent. There are lots of shops, restaurants, cafes etc. nearby (5 mins walk), as well as an organic supermarket.

The hosts were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, but not at all intrusive. Inara chatted to us on the first day and told us where to find shops and restaurants, and where to buy bus tickets and catch buses. She has a lot of knowledge about Vancouver, and the history of the area of Kitsilano in particular.

Our room had it's own mini-kitchen, and we're not big eaters in the morning, so we didn't have any of Inara's breakfasts, but the other guests who were there at the same time definitely enjoyed them.

We highly recommend the Camelot Inn.
