“Average but great location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Well this one was an average stay with a flight connection which had gone awry I was stranded in Vancouver and had only some cash left on me.
The hotel is a typical B&B so don't expect much here. Just comfortable enough for you to sleep and head out but not to stay....Over all, nothing to write home about. Just great location as you can head out to downtown and return back. Rooms are very small and the bathroom also is very small..unless I was given the lowest category of room.
The bar gets very noisy but what was good was the access control in the elevator to get to the rooms as travelling alone I was concerned about my security. The soaps in the bathroom didn't lather!
The staff was friendly but unconcerned ... The only good thing was my complimentary airport drop.

“Whatever you do - Don't go there”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

We were booked into a 2 Queen Bed (and sofa bed) for 3 nights in December. The staff were very friendly, and even on first arriving, the foyer and even room were tidy and clean, but if you want to sleep - don't stay there. There was something stomping around in the air conditioning vents all night and it sounded like bigfoot!!!. The floor slanted as you walked toward the door!!!.
Part of the deal was breakfast was included each day - thats ok if you like only bagels, or want to make your own waffles, or have room temperature orange juice or milk. There were a couple of muffins but who knew what was in them.

Also if you have anyone in your group under 19, they can't dine in the Irish pub attached to the hotel - you can buy dinner and they give it to you in take out boxes with wooden cuttlery(!!??) to have in the room - the food was really nice, but hard to eat off a coffee table out of boxes.

We cancelled our reservation and were out before 11am after the first night. To be fair, they offered another room - but the building would all have the same airconditioning vents!!! They did give a refund of the 2 remaining nights, but at the time I wouldn't have argued - I just wanted out.

Room Tip: The only way to get a better room would to be to go to a different place altogether!!

“Bargain, friendly, great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

We chose this hotel based on location and price, and were pleased by many other aspects, not least of which was the staff service. We stayed on the fourth floor, which was very lovely. We were initially placed on the first floor, which had a latent smell of smoke and was not very nice, so we requested a move and they accommodated nicely. The rooms are not big, but nicely appointed. There is a daily buffet breakfast included, server in the pub downstairs. It is a simple self-serve breakfast, including a make-your-own waffles. This will get you going for the day. It is just two blocks walk (south along Granville St) from the closest Canada Line train stop from the airport. Overall I thought it was good value and I would recommend it. Free wifi was good. Nice but small lobby, with lots of brochures. Helpful staff. A stop for the shuttle ski bus to Whistler. Parking beside hotel is convenient, $14/day. Close enough to walk (over the bridge) to Granville Island markets. We stayed with two young kids. Granville Street can be dodgy at night, but by day the area is fine.

Room Tip: Not all floors have been renovated, the ones they have redone are great. We stayed on the 4th floor...

“Does exactly what it says on the tin”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

Comfortable and clean and right in the heart of downtown. Don't stay here if you are looking for luxury! They have updated the bathrooms, which was nice.
It is simple, clean and comfortable and that's it. No frills. They do provide a dry breakfast - waffles, toast and cereal and it's great for the price, we paid $79 a night so were quite satisfied.
The room was cleaned to a very high standard and the beds were the comfiest we've ever had! The room we had was on the very small side but there's only the two of us and we weren't in much to mind.
One bone of contention would be the walls. If you have a noisy neighbour then you won't get much sleep. Unfortunately the man next to us was having a 'quiet' night in and it was gross to have to hear that. Other than that we'd definitely be back.

Room Tip: Go high to cut out street noise if you are a light sleeper.
