“Really handy to downtown, staff rather rude”

This is a great place to stay if you are wanting to be close to downtown and the Waterfront station from the airport is about 4-5 blocks away so walking distance.
I was really happy when we arrived and I enquired about an upgrade and was given one for free. However the lady that was checking us in kept looking at her watch and then stopped checking us in half way through because her shift had finished and someone else came and checked us in, she could have finished checking us in before leaving, it was very rude.
The room came with free wi-fi and free bottled water each day. The room is very basic but everything we needed.
On checking out we had the same lady who checked us in at the start and she had a conversation with people behind us the whole time and barely even acknowledged us, this staff member was so rude at check in and check out.

“Nice with a glitch”

I stayed at the Days Inn Vancouver Downtown during an extended business trip to BC in November. It was recommended by an associate as excellent value in a great location. In general, I agree. The rooms are small but functional and comfortable and the location is great in downtown Vancouver. The hotel is clean and the service at the front desk was good. The only issue I had was with the window heating unit. As the heating unit turned off or on it made a huge racket which was loud enough to wake me up in the night. I ended up turning the whole thing off which made for cool mornings but it worked out. There is no gym in the hotel but a decent restaurant in the basement where I had breakfast both mornings. I likely would not stay here again because of the window unit.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for telling us about your recent stay in our hotel. I am glad that you found most of your stay to be pleasant and comfortable. I am sincerely sorry that you had issues with your window air conditioning unit. They are not supposed to be noisy and I suspect that the particular unit in your room may have required maintenance. I apologize for any inconvenience and I hope that you will consider us again as I assure that this was an isolated incident rather than a routine occurence at our hotel. We hope to see you again soon.

“Quaint, great location”

Stayed here for 2 nights for a yoga conference at the Vancouver Convention Centre. Great location, about 2 blocks to VCC and walking distance to restaurants and shopping downtown. Also easy access to Skytrain (Canada Line) to the airport and other public transportation. The rooms are small and the building a little quirky, but everything was spotlessly clean, nice cozy bedding, lots of pillows and comfortable beds. Most rooms have no view- ie: cement wall outside our window as the hotel is flanked by buildings on both sides, but it almost guarantees its going to be quiet, it was very quiet our entire stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The restaurant downstairs in the hotel had a good breakfast special and is very convenient. Good value in a great location. Would stay here again and recommend to a friend.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us. Our hotel's best asset is its location and we are convenient for so many activities from conferences to cruises to sightseeing. I am glad that you enjoyed our hotel and our guest rooms. Although we don't always offer a view, we certainly can offer peace and quiet which is always desirable in a downtown location. Thanks again for writing a review and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Attended a seminar and stayed for 2nights in this hotel which has a great location(walking distance to everything-especially the Skytrain 2blocks away) clean hotel, attentive staff. The General Manager (Ish Awan) is so accomodating and making sure that everything is ok.

“Loved our stay! Highly recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights last week and really enjoyed it. First, the location in unbeatable. It's a 10-minute walk to the Skytrain, Canada Place and the waterfront, and a 15-minute walk to Robson Street. The room was small, but it was clean and that's what mattered. The bathroom was a nice size as well and had a window, which was nice. We got there hours before check-in and they had a room available for us.

I read reviews of this place where people complained about the elevator being slow and small, and while it is tiny, we never had to wait for it. Maybe it's because we were there during shoulder season and it was just the two of us, but I don't think we shared the elevator with anyone else during our entire stay.

The front desk and valet were incredibly nice and helpful. My only complaint is the nighttime desk employee who gave us very vague directions when I asked her for directions to the nearest Skytrain station, since we were going to take that to the airport the next morning.

Her, pointing west: "It's about two blocks that way and then up a little ways."
Me: What's the name of the station?
Her: Oh, it's the last stop.

Ummm, yeah, not helpful. Seeing as though we're staying in a hotel, I think it's safe to assume that we're VISITING and do not know the names of the stations or the train lines. I rolled my eyes and went to bed and asked the morning-shift employee who said, "You go out the front door and make a left. Go about two blocks to Granville and turn left, and the station called Canada Line will be right in front of you. Take it to southbound to the YVR stop, which is the airport." Thank you! Now really, was that so hard?

Besides that little hiccup, I have absolutely no complaints about the Days Inn Downtown Vancouver. It's walking distance to everything. You can do what we did: walk to the waterfront, take the Sea Walk all the way to -- and through -- Stanley Park, then walk to Robson Street and hang out/people watch/shop/eat/drink then walk back to the hotel. It's an entire day but well worth the experience. Also, check out Joey on Burrad, a bar/grill a hop, skip and a jump from the hotel that does a great job of maintaining a hip, cool vibe without it being too trendy or pretentious.
