Reading the other reviews for Maple Beach (House) B&B on Trip Advisor was helpful because it helped me manage my expectations for the place. Just to update on some of the other reviews. The owners of the B&B live there. The hostess (wife), Patty, is lovely. She’s been very upfront and helpful. The first night I got there, I couldn’t get the window to close—not familiar with the mechanics of it. I called for her and she came up right away and closed the window for me. My room was very clean, small and fine for one or two people. I had a full bathroom next to me, and a door that separates my room and bathroom from the rest of the house. Each room has a mini fridge and TV. This has been super handy, especially the fridge. I didn’t turn the TV on. The TV is a small 13 inch with a remote. My room also had a heater/cooler machine in it to help regulate room temperature if I needed it. It’s been a super soggy and cold summer in the PNW. Since my window had been opened most of the day and I also am generally cold, I turned the heater on the first night to warm up the room and it was perfect. There is no wifi there. There is however a computer for the guests to use.
One morning there was an arts festival a few blocks up and Patty told me before leaving which streets were closed and open in the area to avoid driving frustration. I thought this was very thoughtful and it helped get to where I needed without extra time in traffic.
My breakfast on the first morning was a glass of OJ, two thick and beautiful slices of apple French toast, and tea. I couldn’t finish my plate. Every morning breakfast was tasty, filling, and just off the stove/oven.
They gave me a place to park. The B&B is in a residential area across the street from a school and it looks like you need a permit to park on the surrounding streets during the day. It looks like there are three parking places for this B&B but I’m not positive.
The location truly couldn’t be better. There’s a ton of great places to eat and shop, all within walking distance. I had some fabulous food on 4th--Trattoria, Italian Kitchen; MaeNam (Thai); and Korean BBQ. Capers/Whole Foods is also on 4th a few blocks up and it was a great place to pick up snacks to stash in the fridge in my room.
If you are looking for 4 or 5 star accommodations, then put your money where your mouth is and pay the money to stay there. My stay was $100/nite during high season. I felt like it was a very competitive price for what Maple House offers.
