“Improving on Excellence”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

I read reviews about this place that left me worried, but it was an excellent visit.

We arrived early, so our luggage was safely tucked away by the bellhop until checkin. Our rooms were a little dated and worn, but clean, and the bed linens were fabulous. Renovations were on-going at the time, but never impeded our visit and will greatly improve the quality once they are complete. I look forward to returning after the reno! Staff was polite and efficient.

Breakfast was not included, but the morning buffet was quite good. The attached restaurant was absolutely excellent. We had most of our meals there and I'd go back in a heartbeat.

There is a lovely gift shop inside the hotel with all sorts of unique items that I wish I'd had more time to peruse. Beautiful jewellery.

Location is convenient and nice. We had no car, but found plenty in walking distance. Cabs showed up superfast. Will definitely stay again on future visits to Vancouver!

“Great stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Stayed here for 3 nights due to medical emergency. Hotel is within walking distance of Vancouver General Hospital, BC Cancer Agency and other clinics. Hotel is definately 'under construction' but despite that, the staff were all very friendly & accomodating. The restaurant & pool are closed, but they have a continental breakfast which was great, all the basics included. The noise in the lobby was crazy, but i never noticed any noise in the room, we were on the 12th floor. Rooms are newly renovated, nothing fancy but simple & clean. Is also within walking distance to a handful of restaurants. I would definately stay here again!

“Construction mitigated but no pool/hot tub”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I stayed on the 12th floor at this hotel from 23-27 Jan 2012 while travelling on business. The hotel is renovating some floors, but this went unnoticed for the most part as I was working throughout the day anyway. The only disappointment is the hot tub was also closed for renovation, and when you arrive you have to walk down stairs into what looks like you are entering the service entrance, but it is their temporary front entrance during the renovation. Customer service here was great, and the room I stayed in was one of the newly renovated ones. Comfortable beds, ample space, and more than enough plug ins available. Nice shampoos/conditioner/mouthwash/shoe shine sponge/ shower cap and clean feeling soaps in the rooms. The rooms also have a nice blow dryer (not the usual tiny hotel blow dryer, but a real-sized, effective one). Close to a bus stop (just across the street), so you can take the #99 east to Broadway station to catch the sky train or connect with other routes to go downtown or to nearby sight seeing attractions. Great access from the airport - I just took the sky train to broadway station and walked to the hotel but if you have more than 2 wheeled bags or have difficulty walking I would suggest you take the #99 east to Heather Avenue and it will drop you off adjacent to the hotel. Overall I gave 3/5 due to the hot tub being closed, but I will be returning to this hotel and would recommend it to others.

Room Tip: Choose from the 12th floor up, as this will give some distance between your room and the constructio...

Dear valued guest,

Thank you very much for the review and I am glad that you had a great stay. In regards to hot tub being not available, we unfortunately do not have a hot tub in the hotel. Our newly renovated fitness centre is fully functional, and the indoor pool is currently being renovated.

Once again, thank you for your wonderful review; we look forward to serving you again in the future.

“a very fortunate change of mind”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

I was originally booked in the Park Inns and Suites which is close by. after the first day of staying there, I am determined to find an alternate hotel. the room is small, and had no refrigerator, not much in the room to use when you are planning for a long stay, although the room had a view of downtown Vancouver. They had wireless but is not secure. the business center is a corner table in the lobby. after breakfast, i took a walk and came across Holiday Inn. I walked up to the front desk and asked for the rate, the rate was cheaper than what had been advertised in all the cheap hotel internet deals. The room is spaceous, the breakfast is complimentary since the hotel is being renovated. The staff are trying to accomodate us as much as they can, very friendly, very accomodating. they truly made my visit to my mom's senior home a more pleasant one and easier than I thought this would be. thank you.

Room Tip: no comments, the rooms and hall ways are super quiet and clean.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you very much for the review. We are currently working on the fridge issue as only the rooms on the top two floors have fridges, regardless of room type. We will also put fridges in the lower corner rooms with balcony (upgrade rooms).

Thank you.

“Great stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

Had a great stay (2 weeks!) in a renovated room on the 15th floor in November. Great location for travelling throughout the Vancouver area on business without having to worry too much about downtown traffic. I've stayed here before the renovations and they are definitely a lovely improvement!

Staff were super friendly and as others have mentioned, the hotel is undergoing renovations throughout and are totally up front about it. I never had an issue with noise as I was out of the hotel for most of the day while it was noisy.

My one issue is that I was to be upgraded to a deluxe king room or whatever (w/ platnium IHG) but the king rooms don't have refrigerators and I was hoping to have one considering I was there for two weeks. There was going to be an additional charge (I think $10/day?) to have a fridge put in but the rooms with queen sized beds HAD refrigerators so I declined the upgrade and stuck with the room that had a fridge in it already.
If I were the hotel, I would have considered putting fridges in all the rooms!

Parking was easy and never full, just registered with the front desk.

Great stay and I would stay here again in the future!
