Pros - NO bed bugs (yay); the sheets and towels were clean; the bed was reasonably comfortable; plenty of hot water for shower in morning; even though it is on a main road (Kingsway) it was fairly quiet; staff were friendly, if ineffectual.
Cons - VERY old property; the condition of the carpet made me keep my shoes on (it looked greasy); no hot water in the tap in the evening (maybe we didn't let it run long enough? guess 5 minutes wasn't enough...); bathroom sink and tub were chipped and rusty in places; there was no one in the office when we arrived around 11 p.m. - the office staff was out getting food, so we had to wait in the parking lot for about 10 minutes; and the worst of all, the toilet tank leaked into the bowl so every 3 minutes (yes, I timed it) the water would refill in the tank WHOOOOSSHHHH for 8 seconds. After an hour or so of trying to get to sleep I finally got down on my hands and knees and turned off the water line under the toilet. When I told the office staff about it in the morning she said she would have someone look at it, but no, the second night was the same....however, I knew to turn the water off before we climbed into bed. There were also a couple of weird things, like getting the door to unlock, and a strange person in another unit, but that could have happened anywhere.
All in all, I don't think I could recommend this place to friends or family, BUT I kind of like the little cabin-like units, on a couple of acres in the middle of a city, and I possibly would stay there again. Maybe. But definitely NOT in unit #134....

Wow, what is that smell? Room 113 had an overpowering chemical smell that gave me a headache. I had to drive home without staying the night. My girlfriend made me wash my clothes upon arrival. Before getting my deposit back the staff member had to check my room for damage, coming back he said he couldn't smell any chemicals. I expected nothing more from him. Well at least the employees are loyal, to the owner. The room was decrepit and someone kept calling and hanging up. Not recommended to anyone.

My family had been coming to this classic court motel since 1973, but this trip will be our last. It really has fallen on bad times. What had been charming and a throwback is now just very worn. Locaiton on Kingsway is still convenient, but carpets and beds are shot, sheets thin. Rat trap behind stove in kitchenette. Cops patrolling parking lot every AM. Yet nothing downscale about price, even though I know Vancouver has gotten more spendy. Staff was helpful with directions and getting more pillows, but this is not a happy place. Nice that they try to have WiFi, but popular such as Facebook sites were blocked by network. Sad to see an institution lose its way like this.

What a bizarre and total bummer!!! I asked for a specific room but was told the room was rented. I found out in the morning it was not! (by the day clerk) I was told the place was 85% full the evening I checked in. It was a total lie; it wasn't even 25% filled. I asked for a quiet, clean room and was given room 135. This room had such a toxic, strong chemical smell that I couldn't even sleep due to it. It smelled like it had just been fumigated!!! Even with the window open all night and the fan going I couldn't get away from the smell. I am now home with a sore throat and feel sick. I should have gone back to the desk and asked for a different room, but the night clerk was just too weird to deal with. It is safe to say if I was his boss he would looking for work elsewhere!!! That's about the kindest thing I can say about him. Never ever again will I stay in such a rat hole!!! What a waste of $85 bucks!!! My God how totally bizarre!!! They should be ashamed!!! The only thing nice I can say about the place is that the sheets and towels were clean. That's it!!! I would fire the night clerk in an instant!!!
