The Burrard Inn was the last stop for us on a 2 week Alaskan vacation. We stayed 2 nights, for what I felt was a great rate.
We went straight to the hotel after disembarking the cruise ship, and since that was quite early (9:00 am), we weren't sure if they would have a room ready for us yet. However, the front desk cheerfully upgraded us from a queen to a king free of charge so that we could check in immediately. The front desk staff are extraordinarily helpful--everything from a great downtown map, to tours and attractions, to tickets for the train / bus / trolley, to recommendations for restaurants. Every piece of advice they gave us was spot-on.
I love the look and feel of the Burrard! When we were dropped off by the taxi, it didn't look like much from the outside, but once we stepped in to the lobby, it was perfect! Very modern / chic / hipster feel to the place, but we didn't encounter a single annoying hipster--perfect! The hotel has a 'motor court' set up, with room access from an outside courtyard on all 4 levels. The courtyard was very nicely appointed, complete with sitting tables, plenty of shade and greenery and even Jenga games to keep you busy! Ice machines and buckets are available, and their house toiletries are quite nice. The hotel doesn't change your sheets each day unless you specifically ask them to, but since we were only staying 2 nights this was not of concern to us.
The room itsel fwas extremely clean and had plenty of space for our 4 large bags. Free internet, complimentary bottled water (with a water cooler in the lobby for refills) and a nice flat screen TV in the room. Free use of a computer and printer in the lobby...I'm telling ya--for the price, this place can not be beat. Location is within walking distance to GasTown, China Town and many other nice things to see. Vancouver is a great walking city.
I can't emphasize enough the difference that friendly, helpful staff makes when staying in a strange city, and these folks do customer service right. Need a taxi? No problem, we'll call one. Need a liquor store within walking distance? Got it! Thinking of doing a tourist attaction? We'll recommend one, and get you tickets! Fantastic service and stay--would highly recommend this place to anybody traveling to Vancouver!
