“Very spacious & nicel decorated rooms!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I stayed here in January & February 2012. I saw a rate of $99/night for a 1queen bed room online & called in to get more specifics. I told the guy I'd call back to book it & when I did I got a different girl offering me their regular rate. When I said I was told $99 earlier she said she'd book it for that price. So, check online first! I'm sure if I didn't bring it up she wouldn't have mentioned the cheaper rate. Parking is $15.. $20 after taxes + fees, but it's reasonable considering you can leave your car parked till 3pm the next day (even after 11am check-out).

When we arrived we were told they required a pre-auth of the total room charge + an extra $200 pre-auth. I wish I had known about this beforehand because I didn't have enough credit on my card, but luckily they accepted cash. While they are not actually charging anything they are still withholding money that I would've liked to have during our night out.

We were booked into a room on the 11th floor. The view at night was great, though in the morning we realized we were looking at a building under construction. Behind it, though, was the beautful city. The rooms are VERY big & spacious. They look exactly like the pictures on the website & the traveller photos available here. The closet is amazing; it has a built-in storage unit with shelves & places to hang your cothes. There is also a desk, a flat screen tv, a fridge, & a coffee/teak maker. The bathroom itself is fairly small, but the entire room is very clean & polished nicely. The walk-out balcony is great for getting fresh air too.

The service was great.. the front desk staff was extremely nice even though I showed disappointment at their pre-auth requirement. The weekend after I booked two rooms with 2 queens each ($109/night). Though I was told the hotel can't guarantee requests, I emailed & spoke to a rep about getting the highest rooms available at our rate & side by side. I was quite happy that I got exactly what I wanted- 2 rooms on the 14th floor right beside each other. Rooms up until the 14th floor are considered standard regular rooms, & anything higher is considered deluxe & more expensive.

The location of the hotel is great as it's right on Robson St & beside anything you need. I'd defintely recommend this hotel, at this rate & the location it's the perfect place to stay!

Room Tip: Request a higher room, even standard ones have a great view!

“Great place that does not hurt one's budget”

We stayed at the Blue Horizon for 4 nights during our trip through B.C. The hotel is very well upkept. The rooms are very spacious and offer a very good standard of comfort. The bed was very comfortable. Our room also featured a fridge, tea cooker and a desk. The level of service from the hotel staff is noteworthy. They were helpful and friendly. The hotel also offers a heated spa and a couple of fitness machines. We used them pretty much every day and were very happy. The location of the hotel could not be better. It is right at Robson street, Vancouver's major shopping street. Restaurants, bars and shops are at your doorstep. The only negative experience to mention is the fact that there is no Wifi in your room, except if you bring your own laptop. Will definitely return!

“Great hotel bargain”

Booked this hotel through the Vancouver tourist information centre and got a great rate. The rooms are absolutely massive, clean and new and in a perfect location on Robson Street, close to all shops and transport but at half the price you will pay in the West End or on Granville St. You can pretty much walk to everything from here - trains, stores, seabus, Stanley Park.
Our room had a fridge. Service was great. Small lobby but does have Internet. Will stay here again.

“Wonderful Views, A Comfortable Room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

We headed to Vancouver BC near new years 2011. We got a great deal on a 29th floor room at the Blue Horizon. The hotel is at the end of Robson Street, a shopping district with a lot of restaurants and lounges. The room was quite comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Most of the rooms are "corner rooms" with windows along two sides, allowing for a 180 degree view of Vancouver and the bay. The one complaint we had was the heating system; every couple of minutes a small "hiss" of steam would pop up, which made sleeping a little fitful. Otherwise, though, we had a lovely stay. Be sure to visit the Creperie (Cafe Bretanne) down the street for a great lunch or breakfast!
