“One of Life's Sweet Indulgences”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

For special occasions, or for when my wife and I want to indulge in a weekend with a show, dinner, and relaxation, we will pick a nice hotel and plan a weekend.

For Valentine's this year my wife wanted to stay at L'Hermitage. We found L'Hermitage to be an exquisite boutique luxury hotel. There are equally excellent luxury hotels in Vancouver, such as the Shanghai. But what is nice about L'Hermitage is that the service is a little more personable because of its size. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay.

It might not seem that significant, but I was impressed that the hotel designed its suites with everyone in mind, and I mean those with disabilities. All doors, including the bathroom, were wide enough for wheel chairs, and the bathroom with ample space for wheel chairs to move around. That means to me that all guests are well consider and accommodated for.

The other thing I found was there was the service was a bit more personable. When I had booked our stay I ordered a few things for our room. After registering, when we arrived at our room a staff member was there waiting to bring our requests in, and politely asked for permission to place them in our room. Nice touch.

L'Hermitage is in a great location as well, close to restaurants, theatres, Roger's Arena, and BC Place.

One very, very, minor point I would advise the hotel about for the smaller boutique rooms is about the kettle you provide for boiling water, such as for tea. In the boutique rooms, at least, you need to find a plug in. There was none obvious on the furniture piece with the fridge and T.V. We had to use another outlet with the kettle on the floor.

We will be back.

“The best hotel in Vancouver!”

We stayed at this hotel for 5 days, starting at Christmas. We had a full bedroom, office, living room with fireplace, full kitchen and two bathrooms. This hotel is perfect for singles, couples or families! It has all of the luxury furnishings, rainfall shower heads and high-end kitchen appliances. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. When we needed a baking sheet while preparing Christmas dinner, the hotel staff dropped it off at our door. We also arrived before our room was ready so the staff placed all of our groceries in the room fridge. The room also includes a washer/dryer and balcony. All of this is approximately the same price as staying at a 5 star hotel in Van. We travel to Van multiple times per year, and we will never stay at another hotel again. We don't have enough good things to say about this hotel.

Room Tip: Since this is a per friendly hotel, if you have pet allergies send a request in advance for a room t...

“Wish we could have stayed longer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

The staff was over the top helpful in planning my evening for my husband and myself. It was a special occasion and they made everything perfect. Our room was beautiful, if I had to say anything on the negative it would be that I would have liked more counter space in the bathroom, but since we were only there one night it was no big deal. I was completely blown away by the full kitchen, sub zero fridge and gas cook top. We will be returning only next time we plan to stay in the room and cook! I gave sleep quality a very good and not excellent because of the air circulation, but then in the morning we realized we did not have the fan running so I'm sure that would have made a difference. Also you can ask for different types of pillows which I really like.

Room Tip: Any room is a good room

“Conveniently located”

We spent 2 nights at l'Hermitage and enjoyed our stay. Friendly staff, nice room and large bathroom. We also had a small balcony with table/chair. They provide loaner umbrellas and also bicycles. (Didn't use the bikes as we walked to Stanley Park, BCPlace Stadium and restaurants.) We also used the outdoor spa and lap pool and checked out the nice workout room. The Vancouver Art Gallery and trendy shopping are both within easy walking distance. Hotel restaurant is a bit pricey considering it's not a linen tablecloth space, but the food was good. Variety of restaurants nearby as well as an IGA grocery store and Starbucks. Would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: We stayed in a basic room--which is the cheapest--and it was adequate for two with a King Sized bed...

“Loved l'Hermitage!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012 via mobile

We stayed in this hotel per and post our Whistler ski trip. After comparing many hotels and reviews I picked this one and was not disappointed!

The location is fantastic. We walked to Gastown, Yale town, and even rented bikes and rode around Stanley park and Granville Island.

The Quattro restaraunt downstairs is fantastic and it is an easy walk to loads of local spots- I recommend Cafe Medina on Beatty st for breakfast but get there early on the weekend and also Flying Pig in Yaletown. The Lennox Pub on Robson St is great for a beer and cheap eats.

The best thing about L'Hermitage is by far the service. The staff were friendly, helpful and full of information. On our first stay they gave us a free upgrade, allowed us to check in early as our flight arrived early am - and they have an excellent lounge which we used while waiting for our Whistler transfer.

On our second stay which was three nights we recommended friends to stay at the same hotel and their feedback was excellent too. The petite rooms are actually quite large. Service was again fantastic and on finding out that our flight didn't leave until nearly midnight we asked for late checkout. Even though the hotel was booked out after just a short while they had worked a miracle and arranged for us have our room as long as we needed.

In short I would whole heartedly recommend L'Hermitage. My only disappointment was that I didn't get to meet Hippo. I guess that means that I'll have to go back.
