For special occasions, or for when my wife and I want to indulge in a weekend with a show, dinner, and relaxation, we will pick a nice hotel and plan a weekend.
For Valentine's this year my wife wanted to stay at L'Hermitage. We found L'Hermitage to be an exquisite boutique luxury hotel. There are equally excellent luxury hotels in Vancouver, such as the Shanghai. But what is nice about L'Hermitage is that the service is a little more personable because of its size. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay.
It might not seem that significant, but I was impressed that the hotel designed its suites with everyone in mind, and I mean those with disabilities. All doors, including the bathroom, were wide enough for wheel chairs, and the bathroom with ample space for wheel chairs to move around. That means to me that all guests are well consider and accommodated for.
The other thing I found was there was the service was a bit more personable. When I had booked our stay I ordered a few things for our room. After registering, when we arrived at our room a staff member was there waiting to bring our requests in, and politely asked for permission to place them in our room. Nice touch.
L'Hermitage is in a great location as well, close to restaurants, theatres, Roger's Arena, and BC Place.
One very, very, minor point I would advise the hotel about for the smaller boutique rooms is about the kettle you provide for boiling water, such as for tea. In the boutique rooms, at least, you need to find a plug in. There was none obvious on the furniture piece with the fridge and T.V. We had to use another outlet with the kettle on the floor.
We will be back.
