I stayed at the Seafarer's B&B in early August. There are 3 suites available, one which has a king sized-bed (The Portside suite), one which has a queen size and twin bed (The Santa Fe suite), and one larger, new family suite with an apartment sized kitchen. There was a bar sized fridge available for the Santa Fe and Portside suite occupants to share.
Location:
This B&B is located across the street from Chesterman beach. It is a good location for those who cannot afford to pay beachfront prices. It is a 1 minute walk to the beach, so it would be very accessible for most people.
Rooms:
All 3 rooms are located on the top floor of a large house. There are no private entrances so one is acutely aware of who is exiting and entering at all times. There is a steep set of stairs to climb, which might be difficult for the elderly/physically challenged to manage. The noise levels coming from the family suite to the Santa Fe suite were quite high at times, and it is especially possible to hear cupboard/oven doors slamming, as well as some talking/music.
The rooms and floors were large and spotlessly clean (guests are required to remove their shoes upon entering the foyer of the house). All toiletry items, shampoo/soap are provided, and there is a small coffee machine in each room and a kettle available for boiling water. The Santa Fe room featured a bathroom complete with oversize jacuzzi bathtub (need to use the jacuzzi function before 10:30pm), and separate shower stall. All suites had their own en suite. Outside on the shared deck there is a small hot tub (seats 4).
Rooms are NOT cleaned daily and it is difficult to throw out garbage (especially food wrappers etc...if you buy your own snacks to take to your room) because apart from small garbage cans within the rooms, there is no central place where one could put larger amounts of garbage. There are also no telephones in the rooms, which makes calling for dinner reservations/confirming flights etc...a little challenging.
Breakfast:
Breakfast was served at 9:00am daily in the dining room and included a fruit starter, a hot entree, a selection of muffins/ breads, coffee/tea/juice. The breakfast was very substantial and kept me going well into the afternoon. However, there is no system in place to inform the hosts if you do not wish to have breakfast the next morning (i.e. want to sleep in, ate too much/too late the night before etc...). Since there are no phones in the rooms, one cannot leave a message for the hosts at an "off hour" (late night) when one has decided not to have breakfast. I understand that the hosts are eager to please, but it also seems that if the guest doesn't completely play by the hosts' rules, the guest might start to feel uncomfortable in this situation.
Overall experience:
I would recommend this B&B in the high season for someone who doesn't have the budget to get beachfront accomodations. In the off season, there is a lot more selection available. If you follow a structured schedule, even on holiday, this is an EXCELLENT place to stay. If you prefer to have more privacy/choice, another location might be better. For families, I would recommend asking about the family suite or the Santa Fe room. They are a very good value for the price.
