I can't believe the negative review on this site.
We stayed at Clayoquot the end of June 2007 for 3 nights. Each morning we were served a delicious, filling and nutritious breakfast. Because of the unique set up, we were able to enjoy our breakfast in our room or at our picnic table outside the room overlooking the beautiful bay.
The rooms (we stayed in two as we booked late and had to move mid stay - which was looked after by Lynn & Bob) were clean and comfortable.
I loved that we weren't in the middle of it all but close enough to get there if we wanted.
Lynn was very helpful in directing us to some great eateries as well as local sights. She was always there when needed but allowed us the privacy and peace and quiet that we enjoy when we are on holidays.
Don't want to make this sound too good though, because it will be booked when we want to go back! Les and Sue, Kanata, ON

I wish I'd read some of the other reviews on this place before booking but I only saw the positive ones. Although the view from our room was as good as anticipated, the rest was a let down. The place has a dingy, running-down feel to it. 'Local coastal character' or indifferent maintenance? My money is on the latter.

We were met by the husband, a nice enough guy but who seemed to leave the B&B business to his wife. She was far from welcoming at first, although she thawed a little by the time we left - probably 'cos she had our money by then.

The room was noisy, with sounds coming clearly from next door and the owners' living room directly above. Breakfasts were OK but nothing to get excited over and for the price, we expected a lot better in terms of cleanliness and quality.

Shop around - there are plenty of B&B places in Tofino and I imagine most would be better value for money and more enticing.

There seem to be a mix of reviews around, but from my experience: DO NOT STAY HERE! The rooms were dirty, the breakfast inedible and the owner unpleasant. Not only that, but looking closely at the guest comment book we noticed that many of the pages had been removed, leaving a suspicious lack of negative comments...
To be fair, the view was nice, but in Tofino you would be hard put to find one that isn't!
In summary, I have stayed in worse B&Bs, but not many...

We recently stayed at the Clayoquot Retreat for 3 nights, and would highly recommend this rustic B & B to anyone who is interested in having a relaxing time in a room with the most awesome views. The breakfast served by the owner of this establishment was just fabulous - none of the purchased bakery items that we have been served at other B & B's - this food was homemade, delicious, and plentiful.
