Can not say enough. Unbelievable views, nice rooms, incredible breakfasts, great hosts.
I recommend it to everyone.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Clayoqout Retreat rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast was yummy loved relaxing in the hot tub looking at the beautiful view we got to experience the opening of the whalefest this year in Tofino thank you so much Lynn for all the suggestions what a great hostess . We will definitely be back !!!!!

Please, if you enjoy a good standard of accommodation, do NOT book into the Clayoquot Retreat. We foolishly booked this without consulting Trip Adviser, as we had done with our 8 previous bookings for our trip to the Rockies and BC 30/8 to 20/9. Upon our arrival in Tofino, which was cloaked in grey skies after enjoying 2 weeks of sunshine previously, we were met by the owner, who appeared to be slightly the worse for drink and who before even showing us into our accommodation, talked incessantly about personal family stuff, the problems in Tofino with parking, the awful weather and another couple who were due to arrive but had totalled their car in Victoria and had cancelled. (She managed to fill the room so hope they got a refund!!).

After what seemed like ages she finally opened the door to the Seaside Room and we were met by a dingy and damp smelling room that probably hadn’t been updated since the 80s. There is nothing good to say about the accommodation apart from the view. The bedlinen although clean you could spit peas through and smelled so much of fabric softener that I had to put one of my own towels over the pillow to mask the aroma as the chemical smell made me cough. The plumbing was antiquated and to operate the taps you had to pull out this central tap and the water surged out along with a great noise in the pipes. Also, if any of the other guests in their rooms used their toilet and taps you could hear it loudly in our room. As there was no soundproofing to speak off we could even hear when our next door guests had to use the toilet!! Another problem was that the owners living quarters were above our room which meant constant loud thudding back and forward as the breakfast was prepared from 6.30 onwards.

Also the breakfasts are not sumptuous as described on their web site. They were almost inedible, unless you hadn’t eaten for days and would eat anything, and they are brought out into a dingy cold annex at the back of the rooms, then you take them into your room to eat. We were booked for 3 nights, but it was so awful, only stayed for 2, but should have left right away as it was easily the worst accommodation I have ever stayed in. My advice – don’t book in here.
