“It's a noisy box”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 June 2010

I travelled to Prince Rupert on business and booked this place with some idea of where it was. It is a concrete box with no underground parking unless you are a resident of the hotel. Though it was only 15 degrees (60 farenhiet) the room was hot. The only way to cool down was to keep the window open which let in all the street noise. I had a scenic view of the burned out building across the street. I had dinner down the street at the Crest and would definitely book there next time, despite some of the reviews I have read on that establishment. In the morning I asked about the exercise room and was told that none of the machines were in working order. There is nothing about this place to recommend.

This hotel has a 3 1/2 star rating and it should not. It should be a 1/2 star

The Quarterdeck in Port Hardy has a 3 1/2 star rating and it should be a 4 star.

One hotel cares the other does not.

“most pleasant stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2008

while some of the furniture is a bit shabby, the hotel staff more than makes staying here very pleasant. Rates were less expensive than nearby hotels, so good value indeed. For less than $90 we had a view of the harbour and found the location very convenient. It was within easy walking to the majority of sights and close to restaurants, shopping and the bus depot.

“Just a bed and a bus.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2007

For the price you'll pay for this place, shell out a few bucks more and stay at the Crest.

I've stayed at the Crest a number of times but stayed here once only because the only bus to the airport leaves from the front door...a real bonus if you have a lot of gear.

It's a big, ugly concrete block from the outside, "colourful" locals hanging around out front (and sides and back), and set in a noisy part of town.

BUT...the rooms are big, reasonably clean, the views are great and the bed was good.

But I haven't been and won't be back.

Stayed August 2006

“earplugs a must!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 May 2007

The rooms in this hotel are spacious, with king size beds, generous desk area, a balcony with view, and wireless internet access. However, the building is practically surrounded by pubs and bars and the noise at night (up until 4 am) is rather annoying. It's been suggested that this is a normal occurrance from Thursday to Saturday night - so bring your earplugs!

  • Liked — free wireless internet access, spacious rooms and king size bed
  • Disliked — noisy
