“Just a bed and a bus.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2007

For the price you'll pay for this place, shell out a few bucks more and stay at the Crest.

I've stayed at the Crest a number of times but stayed here once only because the only bus to the airport leaves from the front door...a real bonus if you have a lot of gear.

It's a big, ugly concrete block from the outside, "colourful" locals hanging around out front (and sides and back), and set in a noisy part of town.

BUT...the rooms are big, reasonably clean, the views are great and the bed was good.

But I haven't been and won't be back.

Stayed August 2006

“earplugs a must!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 May 2007

The rooms in this hotel are spacious, with king size beds, generous desk area, a balcony with view, and wireless internet access. However, the building is practically surrounded by pubs and bars and the noise at night (up until 4 am) is rather annoying. It's been suggested that this is a normal occurrance from Thursday to Saturday night - so bring your earplugs!

“Looks shabby from outside but nice inside”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2005

We stayed at the Howard Johnson hotel in Prince Rupert for just one night (25th Sept). We only chose to stay there because we were taking the ferry from Port Hardy which did not arrive til after 10pm. The hotel looks pretty shabby from the outside (Prince Rupert itself was not a stunner though) but it was nice inside, comfortable, and clean. Booked though Expedia at cost of £76.55 for the night.

“A pleasant surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2005

people found this review helpful

I had no expectations of this hotel having read the reviews.

Howver, we stayed for a night having arrived on the ferry from Port Hardy and have to say the rooms were much better than expected and of a very good size with all the amenities you could want.

Service was excellent at breakfast and overall we had a very pleasant experience at this hotel - I do agree it is an ugly looking building though.

“an ugly, unsafe place”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 May 2005

people found this review helpful

We stayed here one night in August after arriving by train and leaving the next day by ferry to Vancouver Island. This place is ugly and a dump. We did not feel safe at all with all sorts of strange characters wandering the halls. The rooms were old and there was no air conditioning. The only window that we could open was the balcony sliding door which we did not feel comfortable with because of the people wandering around the hotel.
