“Worst stay ever!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2008

I used to live in Penticton and aways thought this was a nice looking Motel. Boy was I wrong. I understand that the front desk was closing early on xmas eve but when I went to check out on the 26th at 9:30 no one was around and would not even answer the door bell. The sign on the door said they were suposed to be open at 8am.
We were stuck right in between two monthly tenants and on Christmas Day night one of the monthly tenants decided to have a bunch of people over for a party and there was no answer at the phone number we were given so we did not get much sleep. If you are going to have monthly tenants, set aside some rooms at the other end of the Motel for nightly stays or shut the doors for the winter.
If your over 5'7" the beds will be too short for you and the recent renos are very shoddy. The Motel says its none smoking but all the tenants sit outside there doors and puff away which flows right into the room.
This is the worst place I have ever stayed and will never return obviously by the summer reviews it is not much better at any time.

“should be renamed "slum lodge"”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2008

We stayed at the "slum lodge" last summer for a week. The bedding was old, worn and unclean. The hide-a-bed appeared to have not been pulled out prior to our stay, what was on and under it was pure filth! The bathroom had black mold in the shower and towels were stained with mascara from previous guests. Our kitchen table was sticky in multiple spots (on top and sides) and appeared to not have been wiped prior to our stay. IT was obvious that vacuuming was done where convenient and the thick dust on the dark carpets in all corners was the giveaway!
We had friends stay there (despite our advice) this year and were greeted by ants coming up the drains and through their tiles in their bathroom. They actually caulked their own bathtub to prevent them from coming in. Other friends needed to keep their drain down to prevent them from coming in. And yet another set of friends was greeted with dead bugs in their cupboards. Not to mention the general filth and lack of cleanliness that we had experienced as well. They also closed the pool for a "mold problem" and said the pool would be closed for the week. Magically the problem was solved 6 hours later and the pool reopened.
I would never recommend this hotel to anyone as their rates are far from competitive and their cleanliness far from acceptable. Problem is, they don't care as their location dictates they will be booked. Don't let convenience keep this place in business!

“NO HOUSEKEEPING!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2008

The only thing this hotel offers is good location & a covered heated pool. We booked for 8 nights & were told upon arrival we would only have housekeeping once during our stay & we could use their vacuum & cleaning supplies when needed.!??!! We were not told this when we reserved our room 2 months prior. The hotel is getting run down with loose tiles in the bathroom & stains on a variety of surfaces. Hotels on the same street offer daily housekeeping at the same rate. Owners need to put some money into renos or even a good cleaning & change their housekeeping policy. I have never heard of a hotel who expects paying customers to clean their own rooms!

“Pass on this place”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 March 2008

We checked in as a drive by. Our best estimation is that this is where the cheapos stay when they don't want to put out the bucks for the Casino Resort across the street as it was sold out.

Our bed was a twin. The tiles in the bathroom were loose. The bed was dirty, we use our own comforter from the car.

Location is good if you want to walk to downtown or the Casino. They obviously can sell rooms no matter what, so they don't take care of the details. We spent one night and found a better hotel for the next night.

“Great location and View”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2006

I'm not sure about the other reviews, but our stay was fine. The room was clean and the beds were decent. The place seems like an old building, but it was clean and the pool was indoors and heated. The location was great and the view was also great, overlooking the lake. Also if you like Casinos, then there is one just down the road.
