“Can't get more cozy than staying with Fiona & Maurice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

The great service started even before we got to the Copper Kettle when Maurice picked up my girlfriend and me from the ferry and drove us to the house. There, we found a clean, cozy home that was a great place to spend a few days relaxing. But even better than the room were Maurice and Fiona as hosts - they made us feel like family, giving us a bunch of great advice for where to go and things to do around Nanaimo during our stay. They're just genuinely nice people, it felt like a home away from home. And they make a great breakfast. Highly recommended!

“Short but very sweet.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

Our one night stay at The Copper Kettle, chosen to be near the ferry, was short but very sweet. We had a warm welcome from our hosts, a comfortable room to sleep in, and an excellent breakfast. The fruit salad with all the hidden extras was a real treat. In fact we were so enjoying our after breakfast chat with Fiona and Maurice that we nearly missed the ferry!

“An oasis in Nanaimo”

I stayed at the Copper Kettle for two nights last week as I was visiting Nanaimo for the first time. I chose to stay at this particular B&B as the reviews on Trip Advisor were so good. I certainly wasn’t disappointed! The owners Fiona and Maurice are so friendly and welcoming, The room was spotless and very comfortable and breakfast was excellent. They went above and beyond anything I could have imagined to ensure my visit to Nanaimo was memorable and it was truly appreciated. Their home is so close to everything that I was able to walk to the harbour in 2 minutes and downtown in 15. The neighbourhood is so safe, I could walk home even in evening and felt completely safe and comfortable. I will definitely be back!

“Just What the Doctor Ordered!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2011

After almost two weeks of planes, trains and automobiles (not to mention several nights on the Alaska and BC ferries), the Copper Kettle and Maurice (pronounced 'Morris') and Fiona were just what the doctor ordered. We were able to slow down from waking up each morning and racing to meet one more time schedule or another! After walking in the door, removing our shoes and being welcomed to our room, it felt like being surruonded by a large fluffy comforter. I didn't have to go ANYWHERE for a cuople of days (famous last words!). The room was large, airy and bright and the Shrubs had attended to all the niceties a person could want: travel brochures, soft bathrobes and everything to make a 'cuppa' with. The grounds were gorgeous and obviously tended by someone (or two) who loved gardening. Breakfast each morning was the kind of meal you lingered over (pancakes, eggs, tea, bacon, sausage, toast, Belgian waffles and LOTS of lovely, locally-grown fruit) and I did, especially since the conversation afterwards was so enlightening - both Maurice and Fiona are a wealth of information about Vancouver Island and I unashamedly picked their brains. Bottom line: we loved it and would move in if they'd have us!

“Just perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2011

We stayed at the Copper Kettle for one night as we had to catch the ferry back to the mainland. Maurice and Fiona were the ultimate hosts. Not only was their home immaculate with attention to every detail, but they themselves went out of their way to be gracious and accommodating! After a lovely dinner on the waterfront, we returned and enjoyed a glass of wine and beer with our hosts - and some great conversation too! To top it off, Fiona made us a scrumptious breakfast at 6 a.m. as we had to catch an early ferry. From the toiletries, to the coffee and tea makers, to the "escape" ladder under the bed in case of fire, Fiona and Maurice have your every need in mind. They are the best!!!
