After almost two weeks of planes, trains and automobiles (not to mention several nights on the Alaska and BC ferries), the Copper Kettle and Maurice (pronounced 'Morris') and Fiona were just what the doctor ordered. We were able to slow down from waking up each morning and racing to meet one more time schedule or another! After walking in the door, removing our shoes and being welcomed to our room, it felt like being surruonded by a large fluffy comforter. I didn't have to go ANYWHERE for a cuople of days (famous last words!). The room was large, airy and bright and the Shrubs had attended to all the niceties a person could want: travel brochures, soft bathrobes and everything to make a 'cuppa' with. The grounds were gorgeous and obviously tended by someone (or two) who loved gardening. Breakfast each morning was the kind of meal you lingered over (pancakes, eggs, tea, bacon, sausage, toast, Belgian waffles and LOTS of lovely, locally-grown fruit) and I did, especially since the conversation afterwards was so enlightening - both Maurice and Fiona are a wealth of information about Vancouver Island and I unashamedly picked their brains. Bottom line: we loved it and would move in if they'd have us!
