We arrived as a walk-in client ans were greated by a friendly reception agent. The lobby was nicely decorated with Christmas decorations. The rooms were clean, with a beautiful ocean view. Pet friendly was a bonus.

I stayed at this hotel while working on the island. It's a great place if you're looking for a place to crash, the bed was comfortable and the room clean. Things are a bit dated, both inside and outside the hotel, so don't stay here if you are expecting a resort feel. Tim Horton's is right close by, so you can get your morning cup of joe. They do offer a free breakfast, and it was decent quality as well, an actual sit-down breakfast made to order, not your typical buffet style that I see in most hotels now-a-days, so kudos on that.

We booked this room through booking.com to get a cheap rate and we were worried it would be really old and run down because of the look of it in the pics but actually, they were very friendly, very helpful, the room was clean and everything worked. If you are looking for fancy and funky and are willing to pay...this is not for you...but if you want cheap and cheerful, this is the place...everything that needed to work, worked.

One thing I loved was that they didn't give me an electronic room key which always seems to malfunction. They gave us real keys to open the door with. I was able to bring our little dog and it wasn't a problem (not that he's ever really a problem because he's well behaved). We were given tickets for a really great breakfast at the hotel restaurant not the Continental crap that sits out all morning. We took the dog for a walk because its right on the river next to the boardwalk. Check in and out was quick and painless.

Yes, there are loiters in the parking lot from Downtown Nanaimo and u have to be smart about where you park your car and making sure you don't leave valuables in it but there is security and we had no problems even though we have a nice vehicle.

In the summer there might be an issue with the air conditioning...not sure...it just blew cool air even though we had it on warm...didn't matter though because the room was warm enough. The heating/cooling unit was not noisy but I always suggest bring ear plugs because you never know :)

We brought our own pillows but the ones there were fine. Wifi worked.

I would go back to this hotel again and recommend it to others.

Three of us stayed at this hotel on Friday Sept 16. I chose this hotel because it was close to the ferry terminal and we were heading out for Campbell River. It was late we were tired. The worse thing about the room was the beds and pillows - the room had two queen beds. We were tired and wanted to rest but woke up very exhausted and sore. Others have written this hotel needs an update and it really does. They do try to keep it clean however, the old stale musty smell hits you very strongly. The rooms are non smoking however, they were smoking in the past and it is old carpet, walls and bed furnishings. If this hotel wishes to attract desirable clientele, rennovate, get new carpets, fresh paiint and please please - get some decent beds and pillows! By the way - the bathroom is tiny - small toilet seat. You do not get a bang for your buck with this hotel. I must have something good to say and that is the people who work there are very nice - lobby reception was good. The service in the restaurant for breakfast was good - food is fair.
