We had planned a week in Okanagan B&B's several months ago, and at the last minute decided to see if we could arrive one day early. On August 4, I left a message at the Vineyard Inn inquiring about vacancies for August 6. A lady called Leanne called us back and confirmed they had one room available for that night. I booked it with my credit card, and everything was set. We arrived in Kelowna at 4pm on Aug. 6, and attempted to check into the Vineyard Inn. They claimed they had no record of us having a reservation, and that all of their rooms were full. We tried to explain to the front desk clerk that a "Leanne" had called us at home two nights prior to confirm our reservation in the very last room. The clerk suggested we must be confused and had made a reservation elsewhere. Funny that my caller ID said "Vineyard Inn" on it - but I guess I must be confused. We then noticed some business cards on the front desk: Manager: Leanne. Hmmm... we asked the clerk if Leanne the manager would come out and talk to us. Surely she would remember. Clerk phoned Leanne, but Leanne wouldnt come out of her office to the front desk to even speak to us. She told the clerk to find us another hotel to stay at. Well, they did.... too bad it was 3 times the price and they werent prepared to pay the difference. We then left, and spent the next 4 hours searching for a place to stay in Kelowna at the very last minute on a long weekend.
I am horrified by the poor customer service I experienced. We gave them our credit card number, we were not late - no excuse for this. And for the manager not to even have the guts to come out and talk to us.
Beware: This could happen to any of you.
