I had heard that a friend of mine who formerly lived in California and relocated to Kelowna was seriously ill - so I took off from Tacoma WA to do a 2-day scenic trip thru the mountains with intent to stay overnight at Kelowna. I had not planned this, so I took my chances of finding something once I got there for overnight accommodations.
Arriving at 6:30pm I noticed the Travelodge just after entering downtown across the street from city park. The parking lot was clean and a number of guests had already arrived. Checking for room availability, I was pleasantly greeted and options were discussed in a business-like manner.
After I accepted the terms, I checked into my room - king-size bed was firmly made, carpets were clean, all amenities (including coffee station and mini fridge) clean and usable. Bathroom was exceptionally clean - no black mold anywhere.
Now the hunt for my friend: A telephone book confirmed my friend was listed, but he had not included his address - just his telephone. Several calls, but only an answering machine response. Towards the end of the day I went back to the lobby to check if I might have missed a call. The receptionist asked if she might be able to help and I told her my dilemma. She suggested that if the friend was hospitalized, why not check with the hospital - just a few blocks from the hotel - in the morning. It was the only hospital in town to deal with serious issues. I also asked her for some recommendations for dining. She suggested several nearby restaurants and I selected one. This receptionist was truly a knowledgable professional.
Pool and spa were small - because of thundershowers that evening, I did not use either amenity.
In the morning I did use the hotel's continental breakfast facilities - they were "typical" as compared to other chains of mid-range hotels that offer such service - nothing special to report. The dining area was serviced by an attendant and was clean and neat.
Even though Travelodge is not a regular brand I use, I would not hesitate to revisit this place again, should I need to stay in Kelowna in the future.
