“Unbeatable location”

Stayed for two nights as a family with two children. We had a ground floor room lakeside (highly recommend). In terms of location, this place is amazing. Our door opens up and the pool, lake, beach, etc. are literally steps away. Nice lawn surrounding the pool with several barbeques and picnic tables for guests to use. You are really paying strictly for location here as the rooms themselves are average at best. We didn't have any specific complaints about the rooms (they were clean, comfortable), but essentially this is an old motel which has been renovated to a mediocre standard. We all found this stay quite relaxing, as the ambiance of being right on the water is unbeatable. The fact that this is a motel rather than a hotel in our opinions is an asset. In fact, I wouldn't stay at the Manteo next door due to this very fact. We loved walking right out our door to the pool/water/beach with a glass of wine rather than walking hallways and taking elevators as you must in any hotel. If you must have a 4 or 5 star hotel, then don't stay here, but you absolutely cannot beat the locaiton. The front desk staff were professional, corteous and helpful. If this motel is to be demolished to make way for yet another set of generic condos, then I am sorely dissappointed and won't be staying next door at the Manteo.

“Enjoyed our stay at the Lakeshore Inn... eventually.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 May 2010

Before making reservations I called to make sure that that pool was going to be open the weekend that we were coming. They told me that the pool was opening on Saturday. Great news.. so we booked this hotel. We checked in on Friday afternoon and the pool was empty with one garden hose to fill it up. I verified with the check-in desk that the pool was set to open the next day. They changed their story to say that the pool would be open by the end of the day Saturday. Not exactly what we had in mind. We chose this hotel because of the outdoor pool and were only staying for the weekend. There are plenty of hotels with indoor and outdoor pools in Kelowna that we could have chosen if we knew this. We let this go for the 1st half of Saturday, but when I realized that there was no way the pool would be ready by the end of the day, i had to make a complaint. The front desk staff was kind of rude when I approached them about this issue. After a short argument they finally decided that they could check into letting us use the pool next door. Sorry that we wasted our 1st day not being able to use the pool as promised, but felt better when they let us use the Manteo's pool Glad that the issue was taken care of in an appropriate manner but feel like one day of our trip was wasted. It was clear to the front desk staff that the pool was our main concern when we checked in. I feel like if the front desk employee did his job properly, this issue could have been solved for us much sooner. Sometimes it's hard to find real customer service these days.

This was a pretty major issue for us becuase our plan for the weekend was to spend it poolside! ..not so much. FYI: the pool was never open that weekend.

Other than this, the hotel was nice. The rooms were clean and we loved the location. I would stay here again, but only if i KNOW that the pool is actually open.

“Great Value - Perfect Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2009

I stayed at this hotel after staying at the brutal Chinook Oasis in Kelowna, it was a welcome change. Although the rooms are pricey we felt the value was there.
Nice clean rooms, great bed/bedding, full kitchenette and one hell of a maintenance man. This property, although older, is our new favorite place to stay when in town.
You wont be disapointed.

“Amazing views, clean, well cared for hotel.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2009

This place may be old, and it's also not that high on the expensive list, but it IS as represented. The staff are amazing, very attentive. They work hard at keeping the place the place clean, including the pool. There is no restaurant on site, but should you really want room service, the sister hotel next door will be happy to that for you.

I highly recommend you pay the extra for lake view. We stayed on the second floor, lakeview side, and it was incredible to just step outside onto the veranda, and everything is right there for your pleasure. I loved this concept. I didnt have to go down the hall, to the elevator, through the lobby and then outside......

The 3 BBQ's outside, combined with the kettle, coffeee maker, fridge, microwave, and toaster in our room, were great to make our own meals.

The ONLY thing I would suggest to improve this hotel, is a chain lock on the door. Our 2 y/o girl was able to open the door at anytime, even when we had the lock flipped over...as soon as you turn the handle, it unlocks. We ended up putting a chair in front of the door at night, just as a precautionary measure.

We will be back again next year and can hardly wait.

“Nice location, mediocre motel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2009

We have been staying at the Lakeshore for many years and it was fairly good value for the money because of the location on the lake. However, a few years back we noticed a deterioration of the motel and based on that stopped going. However, it has been bought by the Manteo next door (it is going to eventually be torn down and made into condos) and we were told it had been upgraded. When we arrived we found that nothing had changed, It is still a 50's motel that is in a great location. We feel that seeing as it is to be torn down their attitude seems to be "who cares". There used to be a free continental breakfast (that is gone) and you could get the Kelowna newspaper (also not available anymore). No plug in the sink (tough for my husband when he was shaving), our tub wasn't cleaned during the 3 days we were there and your patio comes with 2 plastic chairs (no table - we moved the one in the room out onto the patio). The chairs by the pool are few and many are broken. The pool was so warm that it offered no relief from the heat (many people were complaining and someone we know went 2 weeks later and this had been addressed). Considering that with taxes you are paying close to $250.00 on the lakeside you could do much better. If a view is all you want you will be happy but if you want a nice room for your money this is not the place. The attitude seems to be that they are tearing it down and if you want to give us your money fine - if you don't like it don't come back. We won't!!
