“Great location, poor management - worth it in the end”

The location is unbeatable (along the lake, next to the much nicer Manteo which provides any amenities Lakeshore lacks) but the staff were very poor (besides the super nice and professional cleaning staff). We had no hot water in the shower the whole weekend and when we asked them to look into it, they simply said "that's how things go" and didn't even offer an apology. Checking out took over 30 lllloooonng minutes as they couldn't seem to figure out how to split the bill evenly 3 ways. We also found the staff surly, unkempt, and unprofessional. However, if you want luxury, stay at the Manteo. If you want a cheaper room that you'll hardly be in, the Lakeshore is dandy.

“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2011

We stayed here in June, probably the same time as the lady on the swim meet (as there was swimmers and glofers staying there the same time as us)
I have to say that we had no problems with any other people in the hotel, we come from England and i think the hotels in Canada and the USA are mch better than English ones. The beds are bigger and the facilities are much better, so i have a hard time saying anything negative about this hotel. All areas of the hotel was clean and to be truthful with all the georgeous surrounding area the hotel was the last thing on our mind. All in all we had a very pleasent stay at the Lakeshore Inn.

“Beautiful setting but.....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 June 2011

The location is as beautiful as the photos and the rooms were clean but basic. However, beware, they cater to noisy guests who "socialized" from midnight to 2 am.

I was there for a swim meet with my 14 year-old daughter and another swimmer for 4 nights. Great location, near new H2O pool. Each night we went to bed around 10 or 10:30 but were rudely awaken after midnight to the sounds of 50 year old men on a golf vacation stomping around, drinking and partying both above us and next door to us. Each night I had to call security twice, before they would settle down. The morning after the first night, one of the men stood directly outside our window and stared into our suite, while I heard someone from upstairs yell "so did you find out who the ----- was who complained about us?" Needless to say, as a woman travelling with 2 teenage girls, this was a little unsettling, so I went to speak with the front desk. The supervisor was unsympatheic and said they had spoken with the golfers but there was nothing more they could do. The hotel was sold out for the weekend so they couldn't move us to another suite.

Unfortunately, there were no other vacancies in nearby hotels and we were busy at the swim meet from morning to night. The hotel knew we were there for a swm meet and I had to question why they booked us in a room surrounded by rooms with immature and inconsiderate middle-aged men. When I checked out, the desk agent was very apologetic and said that they had problems with this group of golfers in previous years and have brought their concerns to management, but she didn't know why they keep allowing them back.

I not sure if I would go back this hotel. The location and setting was stunning, but the experience was just so negative. For $150/night, I would definitely consider all my options and requirements before booking here again.

“Location Location Location”

We travelled to Kelowna for a family event taking place on Okanagan Lake over a weekend period. Kelowna, especially lakefront lodging, can be pricey. We had stayed here about four years before on a business trip,so we knew what we were getting into before we arrived. the place hadnt changed AT ALL. It was purchased by Maneto resorts, but they didnt change anything about it. We had the exact same room as we did last time, and it was exactly the same, right down to the bedspreads. Free parking and free wireless internet provided. they used to have a continental breakfast, but no longer. The rooms: its a motel style setting,so you have a kitchette, microwave and a bar fridge. the room is very basic, there is nothing fancy here. Reminds me of staying somehwere in the 80's. its clean, but i stress its older (no flat screen or digital airconditioning here..). the beds were ok-my husband and daughter like soft beds, I cant stand them. The property is situated in a beautiful spot, lots of chairs to sit and enjoy the view, big grassy area for the kids to play or it on a blanket. BBQ area was clean and available for use with two(that I saw) BBQ's. The pool is an outdoor pool, clean, average size and it wasnt open this time, but the small hottub was. You are right next door to the beach area(none part of the hotel). that has a small playground area, bathrooms, and lots of grassy area. Its literally a 30 second walk. Our room was gardenview(,which is really grass/trees seperating parking lot),but it wasnt noisy.the lakefront rooms are the best bet for the beautiful view, but remember some of the rooms are near the pool(some right outside). if you are in the summer and not wanting to listen to the pool noise, and the BBQ area is right beside the end units closest to the beach area. Quiet time is 10pm, we didnt hear any latenight rowdyness, but being on the bottom floor in the morning we were awakened by the people above every morning(not very soundproof). no complaints with the housekeeping and the front desk clerk was helpful suggesting things to do/see with our daughter. Wild Apple is the restaurant from the sister resort next door-pricey. they do the room service with a limited menu. Overall the pros are quiet, good family lodging, beautiful location. Just dont go expecting 4 star accomodations.

“Unbeatable location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2010

Stayed for two nights as a family with two children. We had a ground floor room lakeside (highly recommend). In terms of location, this place is amazing. Our door opens up and the pool, lake, beach, etc. are literally steps away. Nice lawn surrounding the pool with several barbeques and picnic tables for guests to use. You are really paying strictly for location here as the rooms themselves are average at best. We didn't have any specific complaints about the rooms (they were clean, comfortable), but essentially this is an old motel which has been renovated to a mediocre standard. We all found this stay quite relaxing, as the ambiance of being right on the water is unbeatable. The fact that this is a motel rather than a hotel in our opinions is an asset. In fact, I wouldn't stay at the Manteo next door due to this very fact. We loved walking right out our door to the pool/water/beach with a glass of wine rather than walking hallways and taking elevators as you must in any hotel. If you must have a 4 or 5 star hotel, then don't stay here, but you absolutely cannot beat the locaiton. The front desk staff were professional, corteous and helpful. If this motel is to be demolished to make way for yet another set of generic condos, then I am sorely dissappointed and won't be staying next door at the Manteo.
