“Great Location & Service - will stay again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

The location of these apartments is fantastic: the last property on the main “pedestrian-street”. True ski in/out it takes 4 minutes to slowly ski down to the chair lifts in the morning (past all of the shops, cafes and restaurants). At night time the entire village is within a 10-minute walk: most of which is under cover. The supermarket is only a 3 minute walk.

We had a two bedroom apartment and it was a good size and the kitchen had all of the facilities you would require. The quality is slightly ‘basic’ and slightly worn, but still good. The pool in the complex is smallish (would seat 10 comfortably) and was a lovely heat. The two times we used it, no one else was in it. Heating in the apartment was good although the gas fireplace takes a while to warm up.

Staff of the complex are excellent to deal with and very flexible (although surprisingly there is no bag storage). The TV had approx 40 channels plus there was free DVD hire. We were also lent locks to secure our skis in the ski room.

“Good Value, Great Location”

This was the first time we've stayed in the actual village. There aren't enough cross country trails at Sun Peaks to keep us there for more than a day or two, so the thee night minimum of most rentals don't work for us. We were able to stay in unit 220 at the Fireside for just two nights (rental through Top of the Mountain Accommodations). It was clean, comfortable and had the best equipped kitchen I've seen in a vacation rental in a while. the king sized bed was very comfy and the bathroom has a nice, deep soaker tub, This unit was considerably less expensive than others in the building. It's quite small, but very cozy. Best for couples, I think. And there's no private hot tub, which isn't an issue for us, but there is one in the building for general use. Perfect location right in the village, and extremely convenient to the cross country trailhead - a 3 minute walk. Our two nights cost us less than a hotel room alone would have at most other places in the village.

Room Tip: Unit 22o, booked through Top of the Mountain Accommodations & Management accommodations@topofthe...

“IMPROVING EVERY YEAR”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

We (my husband and I) spent 4 days at #421 at the Fireside and found a much improved resort and hotel. Dinner at Powder Hounds was excellent, the shops and cafes in the Village were little gems. The September weather just perfect but the lift closed the day before we arrived, too bad since we wanted to go hiking "up there". For a quiet spot to relax between the golfing season and the skiing/winter sports season Sun Peaks is the place to come and the Fireside Lodge is a great place to stay.

Room Tip: 421 and 321 nice uninterrupted view of the slopes, great balcony for relaxing.

“Just an Average Place”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 March 2011

This condo property has a great location for ski in/out. Our room, 206 had dated furnishings and appliances. The bed was very uncomfortable, an old mattress with a 3 in. piece of foam on top. The sheets didn't fit and pulled out after just a few minutes. It was not the cleanest, cupboards were dirty, between the stove and counter was about a half inch of old food that had been spilled. The carpet was stained and looked as though it had not been cleaned for quite some time. Would think they would do a better job cleaning these units especially when they are advertised on a sign in the room for $249.00/night. As it wsas the end of the ski season the rate was $99.00/night which is a fair price.Would recommend to others at the rate we paid but would not pay more, All in all it was a fair place to stay but in dire need of updating.

“Perfect, cozy, on-hill and affordable!”

Just returned from a 5 day stay at the Fireside Lodge at Sun Peaks. We wanted a true ski in/ski out with hot-tub access, in-suite fireplace and full kitchen. Couldn't have asked for more, this place was perfect and priced right. We booked through Owner Direct and/or Sun Peaks Accomodations both of which allow you to view a variety of accomodation types and prices when searching around. I have used Owner Direct for other ski vacation bookings and so far so good.
Our unit at the Fireside Lodge was #301. It faces Mount Morrissey which means a great view of mountains, ski runs and forest but without facing the village corrider which while cute, could be noisy. The unit replicates what you can expect to find in other units in the building except of course for size. We had a 1 bedroom which comes with a balcony, full kitchen, dining area, full bathroom, fireplace, etc. Shared laundry on the same floor, free parking on-site (undesignated though) and we managed to get underground heated parking which was great. The building has an elevator and valet carts so getting all your gear up and down is not a problem. I'm a packrat who brings everything and my hubby didn't even complain it was so easy!
The focus of our trip wasan economical ski trip so we ate in most of the time. Kitchen came with dishes/pots and pans (I brought my favorite knife and was glad i did so!). We brought own booze as well which turned out to be a good idea. The local liquor store sells alot of high end BC wines which are all terrific but not neccessrily what I would always drink. Bring your own food as the only food store is limited in product and is expensive.
Shared hot tub in lodge was very nice. We went skating one night, fun. Tried out the sports centre's outdoor swimming pool (2 minute walk from the Fireside) well worth it.
Our one dining experience was the 'Steakhouse Restaurant' . Great meal and service. Dinner for two with 1 appy, 2 main course, wine for two and a dessert to share with 20% tip came under $125.00.
We will return maybe even this season!
