With all the reviews on this hotel, we were very leary of staying here, so I called the motel and spoke with them about my concerns. My boyfriend has really bad allergies and was concerned as it was an older motel. After speaking with Management, they said they would shampoo the carpets for us and would hold the room, if we decided we couldnt stay that would be no problem. We got there and to our surprise, the room was very clean as well as the carpets shampoo'd. Management went out of their way to accommodate us in every way. We stayed there for 4 days, they have a very clean heated pool, the motel overlooks over the City of Kamloops, absolultely stunning. You have all the amenities right there within walking distance, a restaurant right there on the property, great food. In our 2 weeks of travelling, that was one of our favorite spots. We would stay there anytime we are in Kamloops. Dont believe all the negative you read on here, this motel was first rate, especially a great place for bikers, as you can back up the bike and enjoy your time.

I booked 3 rooms in this hotel an Aug stay with 3 couples. I was told the property was non-smoking. I checked out the pics of the place from their web-site and it looked really nice and had great views. When we checked in we were given rooms on the 2nd floor, as we walked to the stairway we passed a man sitting outside his room smoking - the no-smoking sign was just above his head on his door. He also had a dog that was not on a leash and roaming around the front of the building. As we climbed the outside stairs all we could smell was smoke. I opened the door to our room and almost passed out from the terrible smell, no only smoke but heavy spray trying to mask the smoke and other dirty smells. The doors to the balcony have not been washed this year and probably not last year either. I checked on my fiends rooms only to find theirs were worse. One room had large stains in the carpet approximately 3 feet square, same sticky odor and smoke smell, same dirty gross unwashed windows and on their deck was a styrofoam cup filled with dirty cigarette butts. The other room was exactly the same except their washbasin was cracked. Right! I said 'I['m not having this" - so went back to the front desk, passing the pool on my way only to see people poolside with their dog. When I got to the receptionist I told her we were checking out because of the dirty rooms. My friend came in and told her how filthy her room was and proceeded to tell her that maybe they should be checking up on the cleaning staff as they obviously weren't doing a proper job. She then asked to speak to the manager so she could relay her dissatisfaction. According to the board behind the receptionist the on duty manager was someone called Brian, the girl said that Brian wasn't the manager - he was just the maintenance man. She said she was the manager, and that she wasn't going to give us a refund because of the way we acted. Howard Johnsons policy was also on the wall behind her, so she was told that she had to give us a refund according to the policy - she then told us "she didn't work for Howard Johnson - that it was just a chain" (wonder who signs her paycheck??) She then proceeded to call my friend by swear words that I can't repeat on here but applies to female dogs and used the F word in front of it.. We are all seniors over the age of 65 and have never been so insulted in our lives. We were so thankfull to be leaving that place. We found another hotel nearby who's staff and service was as expected for a chain hotel. I and my friends will NEVER stay at another Howard Johnson. Please avoid!

Three words to describe this property -- Gross, Dump, Icky. Very run down property, chips in the sink, worn bed linens and pillows, marks on the wall, a/c sounded like an airplane engine. Plenty of other properties to choose from on the same street. Not a comfortable environment.

I booked room with two queen size bed rooms. when I arrived to the hotel the guy took long time staring the computer and then asked me if I prefer ground floor room or first floor with no other word and I picked the upstair room. I got there and found the room different than what I booked (two double size beds) cheaper than the one I paid for. me and my wife got angry and we asked him hwat is going on we don't you give us what we paid for. he replied because he doesn't have two queen bed room upstair and I choosed to be upstair. then my wife replied you didn't tell us the story and the trick. then he gave us what we paid for downstair . if we don't notice the difference we will be ending up paying more for something less. other thing is the smell in the hotel as a whole. this hotel need major renovation. overall it was bad experience to stay in Ho Jo kamloops
