“A Perfect Stopover”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2011

This hotel was the perfect stop over on the long drive from Whistler to Jasper

Most people stay overnight in the rather dingy town of Kamloops which has nothing going for it other than it's geographic location.

Lac Le Jeune is a bit off the beaten track but well worth the extra milage

Located off the main drag up a logging road between two lakes and surrounded by forests .... no town, shops, pubs, restaraunt near it I was a bit worried on arrival. But just chill out for a day or two enjoy the real Canada and the great hospitality offered by the owners.

They are bird nuts with feeders all around the place ... so much wildlife it is mind boggling ... but the owners are eager to point out all thewild birds and animals around the place ... a complete chill out ... nothing to do but soak up the silence.

Walk around or canoe on the lake if you wish ... numerous nature trails

Great food, wonderful value for money and a delightful unexpected change from all the other hotels on our trip

“Nature at your doorstep.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2010

We stayed for 2 nights in one of the cabins. It was very cold and frosty but the heaters in each room together with the gas fire ensured that we were not cold.
The cabin was clean and roomy, if somewhat dated in style. There was a large fridge and cooker so self-catering would have been possible had we chosen to do so. However, we ate in the restaurant both for breakfast and in the evening. At $30 CAD the 4 course meal was excellent value and very well- cooked and presented.
The staff, particularly Wally, were very helpful and friendly, giving advice about walks and the birds etc.
For those interested in wild life, this would be an ideal place to stay. The lake and surrounding area is home to many varieties including beavers and bears.

“Isolated and peaceful”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2010

We stayed at the Lac le Jeune hotel for one night as part of a tour package. We had a reasonably sized room on the top floor which was clean but quite basic. As advertised, the rooms do not have TV, radio, coffee maker, fridge, etc. The bathroom was small but adequate. The view of the lake was pleasant.

The buffet dinner in the evening was understandably a little limited but surprisingly good. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The location is quiet and isolated so may not suit everybody. For ourselves, we found it a nice one-off contrast to all the large busy corporate hotels of the rest of the tour.

Having to dodge round a young black bear raiding the hotel’s bird table is something we will remember for a long time!

“No elevator”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2010

Resort is in a lovely, tranquil setting, but the building itself leaves much to be desired. There is no elevator, nor are there any guest rooms on the main floor, so you have to either walk up or down a flight of stairs to get to your room. This can be very difficult for many older people. Rooms themselves are bare bones and pretty threadbare. Quite the culture shock after spending the previous night at the Chateau Lake Louise.

“Pros and cons - it depends what you're after”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2010

The hotel definitely has a lovely, peaceful setting and our rooms were clean and spacious. Service was good and friendly and the food at the evening meal was delicious! We thought it was very good value for a wide buffet and huge selection of delicious desserts - we wish we could have tried more of them but were too full!
Disappointed by not having tea/coffee making facilities. Our teenagers thought it very boring - perhaps because there was no TV and we weren't there long enough to do any canoeing / walking or any activities on the lake - just an overnight stop - which wasn't the hotel's fault.
I loved the wildlife right outside the window.
Do take bug spray - plenty of mosquitos!
