“Dreadful place”

Dated and very tired. There was a bachelor party going on on our floor and the receptionist was very offhand about it. As she greeted most of the men as personal friends when they arrived I was hardly surprised. I asked if we could move, but she couldn't move us. I failed to see why a hotel would allow a party to be conducted on a guest floor and the Innkeepers' code forbids any kind of disturbance to other guests without evicting the trouble makers. The sad thing is, we were made to feel like the trouble makers for even complaining about the racket. On the plus side, you do get a complimentary continental breakfast and Rachel (one of the waitresses was very nice). I also had the best Caesar salad I've ever had.

“Not quite”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2011

Too bad for the Canadian Inn, we spent the night before at the Comfort Inn. Again the baby woke up early (4am). We had to vacate the room so that my husband and four year old could get some sleep. The staff was very nice but four stars??? Not even a coffee offer. We took over crawling all over the lower lobby and up the lobby stairs for hours. Finally a sympathetic kitchen staff offered us an orange. The restaurant too fancy for a baby - and not even open until 6:30.

The room was small as expected, but over stuffed with two phones, several glasses. Some houghtful items like real spoons and a kettle, but not a big enough room to acommodate wine glasses, glasses, paper cups, coffee cups....

“tired and dated”

Stayed here for one night from the Rocky Mountaineer train. As soon as we walked into the main entrance to the reception it was dingy and looked very outdated. The room was very basic and tired looking but although saying that the bed was comfortable. We were glad it was only for one overnight stay and wouldnt want to stay here again. Also the staff seemed very uniterested and seemed almost as dingy as the room.

“A pleasant surprise!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2011

A great location. Very central, easy walking distance to restaurants, shops, car rental etc. A surprisingly nice room: very comfortable furniture (bed, reading chair, desk chair) thick towels changed daily, better-than-average toiletries, cushy bathrobe, in-room coffee/tea, daily delivery of the Globe & Mail, helpful front desk staff, reliable (and free) WIFI. Thorough housekeeping and very pleasant housekeeping staff.

“Not bad at all.....older hotel so walls are thin”

Clean and modernized rooms, but you can hear what goes on in the hall way and next door because it is an old hotel that has been updated. We are travelling with our 4 year old, and the standard room is two double beds. Since our son moves a lot in the night, we can't sleep with him, and we find a double a bit cramped for us. It is not bad though, just not what we are used to. The staff are super-friendly and accomodating, and the room is clean. The location is great. We are within 4 blocks of a great river-front park if you have kids! And two blocks from Kamloops' best restaurant, Felix on 4th. We are here for business and leisure - i had an AGM up at the university which was about a 5 minute drive had i not taken the wrong turn! The hotel has a restaurant for breakfast which is standard fare ,and a pub attached. I may update this posting after the bar closes tonight (Friday night!!). So far so good!
