Be aware that this hotel charges a $30 pet fee and they only allow you to stay on the 1st floor which is their designated pet floor?? Why the fee if they only use these rooms for pets??
We booked our room online and the rate did not state that there was this $30 fee they just sprung it on us when we arrived, at 9pm, after travelling for 10 hours. Made reservation December 11th online with pets as special request they had plenty of time to notify us of this rate increase
Asked for a king bed they gave us 2 doubles.
When we complained about the pet fee the Manager Christina Leuderman advised that central reservations should have told us about the fee. When I spoke to central reservations they told us that it was not their responsiblility it was the hotels charge!!! Really doesnt sound like holiday inn has a true grasp of their online bookings
Room was cold and not the quality for the price we paid $175 (with pet fee)
As a priority club member I cut up their card and returned it to them in the mail!!

Room Tip: $30 fee for Pets!! Unbelievable Only allowed to stay on first floor

The reservation in question was made by the guest through our website. To the right of where the reservation information is entered, on the first page, is " Pet Policy" the information states:" $30 charge per stay. Limited number of rooms. Please call hotel direct to book. Pet deposit amount 30 CAD per stay"
We are a pet friendly hotel and have a limited number of rooms available for pets. This does not mean that we only use the rooms on the first floor for guests with pets, guests without pets stay in these rooms regularly. We have limited pets to the first floor in order to ensure that those guests suffering from allergies can be assured that no pets have been in the rooms on other floors.
It is important that guests travelling with pets follow the reservation procedures stated as we may not have pet rooms available if reservations are made in any other way than hotel direct.
A large number of hotels do not accept pets at all, we value our four legged friends, and have pets stay with us regularly.

Not a team friendly hotel. Felt unwelcome, checked our room for damage before we could check out. Appaling. Don't stay here! not acceptable cleaning service, lack of hot water. Gave a garbage bag and asked to do our own room garbage. Manager not customer focussed, didn't care. Terrible experience, bad general manager.

I will not go into details regarding this posting. I believe most travellers will be able to read between the lines and appreciate that the Holiday Inn Express Kamloops is a hotel that upholds standards that most travellers value and appreciate.

UPON RESERVATION GUESTS WILL RECEIVE A TWENTY FIVE DOLLAR GIFT CARD TO BE USED AT OUR ABERDEEN MALL THIS WILL START YOU OFF TO A SHOPPERS DELIGHT IN KAMLOOPS SHOP AT HUDSON BAY SEARS FUTURE SHOP COAST MOUNTAIN SPORTS

You must physically stay a night before getting your gift card??? Even though the hotel has a cancellation policy that ensures that the room will be paid. The only night I had available was the first night of check in, and I was told that I would only receive them after staying. Why? I was told that people had checked in and received their cards then checked out. Really?Terrible feeling to not be trusted as a priority club member.

As for flat screen TV's they are still on order (November 15th).

“My first choice in Kamloops in the offseason”

As noted this hotel is a little pricey in the summer but its rates mirror the same tiered CI and BW Plus. Great location, nice rooms and my favorite breakfast of the major mid tier chain hotels. I can't justify the $40-$50/night difference compared to the Quality Inn in the peak season but will spend the extra $20 in the offseason. All things being equal, HIX is my hotel of choice in any city for business travel.

Yes, you are right - we are competitively priced with properties of the same quality as ours and we work very hard at staying that way. Our free breakfast is outstanding and we are looking forward to introducing some new breakfast items in 2012. The pancakes that were added this year are a guest favorite.

“Old Property Run Down Does not Live up to reviews or Holiday Inn standard”

Grounds are an overgrown Weed Patch. Beds are old and hard, TV look like 20 year old with poor reception. Air Cond are old and complicated to operate and have dirty filters.

There are much better properties in Kamloops with a better value give this place a miss.

I chose this place as I frequently use Holiday Inn Express and the reviews were good. Holiday Inns need to get on this place as it drags the Brand down.

The only good thing I can say is that the front desk staff are excellent and try to do their best with a sub-standard old place

The business centre is a joke with a internet connection in the lobby with no printer etc

While the TVs are the old style they are definitely not 20 years old. We went through extensive renovations in 2010 and all case goods were replaced as was the hallway carpets and all walls were repainted. The TVs will be replaced prior to the end of 2011 with flat screens. Our lobby computer for guest use has a printer connected to it. It is placed on the lower shelf of the computer desk. We are inspected by Holiday Inn at a minimum every nine months and are receiving high marks.
