We stayed at the Best Western Plus Kamloops over the busy May long weekend (2012). I have to preface this fundamentally decent review against the extreme number of young children staying at this location for a sports tournament (Kamloops, is, after all, the Tournament Capital of Canada!!) This wasn't the problem of management and the kids did clear out in the morning rather quickly. BUT BE WARNED: ANY hotel in Kamloops can be overrun with children that can be noisy if there is a tournament going on...
First off, I was swayed at staying at this location as it appears that this hotel is one of the newer hotels in the area. Secondly, I was also a Best Western Rewards member and have grown accustomed to the FREE breakfasts that many locations provide. I had booked the hotel directly with Best Western reservations originally: the price fell over $40 about 36 hours prior to my arrival based on a hotel.com listing...so I immediately called them back. They beat the price by $0.50 and saved me over $40! THANK YOU BEST WESTERN!
The staff was excellent, and friendly for this class of hotel.
We were placed in a suite at the end of the hall. BONUS!! It was CAVERNOUS. The only bad thing was the noise emanating from the adjoining room door...the kids again! Drat!
Breakfast was EXCELLENT: They have a new pancake machine, both fruit, cereal, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, yogurt and bacon. BACON!! (I ate $10 worth of bacon ALONE without even the slightest bit of scorn from staff! LOL.) The staff was excellent in keeping up with the high demand items as this was a very busy weekend. This was very astute on the part of management, as too often the FREE breakfast doesn't mean much if the good stuff is gone and you can't wait forever for the staff to bring more. A BIG THUMBS UP for good staff and great service during a busy weekend.
The WiFi worked flawlessly which is very important for many people on the go today.
My room had 2 robes, a microwave, a small refrigerator, a coffee machine and a pull out sofa. There were 2 flat screen TV's in this room (suite). This suite could sleep 6. I did not see an in-room safe, I looked for it in all the closets, etc. I could not find one, which was a negative.
The property could use some fencing around it to limit access for thieves, too. I drive a car vulnerable to attention and theft and the lack of outdoor security was a slight concern on my mind, although nothing did happen to my vehicle.
All in all, I will give this place a 4/5 based on the city and star quality/value.
I will stay here again on (hopefully) a quieter weekend.
Cheers from Vancouver.
Room Tip: Ask for a suite at the end of the halls: THEY ARE HUGE! And don't forget your Best Western Rewar...

Thank you for your comments about our staff. We are proud of our great service we want to provide to all guests at all times, even if you eat all that bacon, lol. Our pancake machine was a great hit this weekend with the kids!
As noted on the comment below, we had alot of families in on the long weekend which were not all teams and it made for a busy weekend.
i will pass your comments on to the Breakfast room team who take pride in providing a hearty meal to our guests before they start their day.
