“A wonderful place to stay at any time of the year!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We are a family of four and have stayed at Harrison Heritage House and Cottages in the summer and the winter. Our children haven't stopped talking about thier stay since the first time we spent our summer vacation a few years back, and eagerly ask "when do we get to go back to our cabin at the Heritage House?" We found the cottages to be very well kept, private and very family friendly. A truely beautiful and peaceful setting to spend your family holiday or romantic weekend for just two. Great hosts and affordable, what else can you ask for? The Ferris family.

Room Tip: all the cottages are of equal quality and privacey

“Super cute, very restful”

This place is perfect for a peaceful, quiet getaway. We stayed in the Heritage Suite. It is really nicely decorated, great tub, nice TV, free wifi. The town itself is dead in the winter, but we just wanted to get out of the city for a couple days so this was perfect. Sonja is very nice. The fireplace in our room was great, and the breakfast foods were pretty good. I only wish there had been butter and a bigger herbal tea selection. The only minor problem with the room was that the fitted sheet kept coming off the bed, but the bed itself was comfy.

This place was so great for a romantic, stress-free couple of days!

So glad you had a peaceful & quiet getaway. The Village is a wonderful place to be in the winter, truly a gift of seclusion. A room with a jacuzzi & fireplace is always a warm welcome from the winter chill! Thank you for your suggestions, we have already implemented them! Cheers, Sonja & Robert

“quite charming country setting”

My wife and I stayed in the Cedar Cottage for our anniversary and was it ever nice and quite. We stayed at the HHS Resort before and it was so noisy with the hustle and bustle so we decided to stay here. It was one of the best places we stayed at in all our travels. We will be coming back for our anniversary next year.

“Great Getaway”

This was our second visit to Cedar Cottage this year. It's just as nice in the winter as summer! The cozy fireplace was great to sit and read /knit by, and the pretty little Christmas tree was a nice touch. No canoeing this time, but lots of waterfowl to watch in the river. This is a very private cottage, you can really feel as if you are all alone with no distractions to interfere with the peace. The kitchen is extremely well equipped for those whose idea of relaxation does not include always having to go out for food. Of course, all kinds of amenities are only a short walk away when you tire of your own company. We'll definitely be returning in 2012 when we feel the need for a few days R&R.

“Had a fabulous time!”

We had an amazing time. Though it was a wet and grey weekend, it was simply delightful. The Heritage House is located within easy walking distance to downtown and the beach. The suite was very cozy and big with very a comfortable bed. We really appreciated that we could opt to not be disturbed all weekend for cleaning. The huge soaker tub was fabulous!! We also loved all the birds. It was wonderful having the window open a bit in the mornings and just listening to all the bird song especially the red winged black birds. It was also great seeing the families of geese going up and down the river from our room. We had a great time on the Circle Farm tour Sonja suggested. On the tour we bought locally made hazelnut butter, locally made cheeses, and at the antique shop the Back Porch, we found the 1880 sheet music to Pirates of Penzance!

Who would have thought you would find sheet music on a farm tour :) what a lucky find!
I had asked the geese to make an appearance for you, so glad you enjoyed the 'swim-by'. Thank you so much for choosing us for your getaway, we hope to see you again. Cheers Sonja & Robert
