“A comfy place to stop!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2010

Decided to stay in town instead of camp en route to Bella Coola. I've stayed at the Super 8 in town before but I wanted to stay somewhere that someone local owned instead of a franchise, and I definitely can't complain!
The managers are very accommodating (they had no single rooms left so they gave me a double room at single price.) and very nice.
The internet works great, no password hassles and it's quick. They also have a little picnic table and yard out back that overlooks the lake. Rooms are very clean!
Overall, pretty darn perfect if you're not the picky type. :)

“New review. Previous one removed due to threats of legal action fr. Drummond L.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2008

Hello fellow travelers,

We previously had a review of Drummond Lodge Motel posted here, but we received an email from them threatening legal action.

Our review was entirely true, but granted, was a mixture of facts and opinions. I don't think they actually would have had a case against us, but we really can't afford a costly legal battle, so we were happy to remove our previous review, and we've rewritten it with the facts only:

1. On May 20, 2008, we booked a room at the Drummond Lodge for June 26th over the internet. We received an email response from [--].

2. On May 28th, we had to change our plans and cancel our trip. We replied to the previous email response ([--]) and told them we needed to cancel. This email was well within the time allowed by the policy Drummond Lodge posted on their website. We, however, did NOT receive a reply to that cancellation.

3. On June 24th, we sent a second email (again, to [--]) to make sure they got the cancellation. We did not receive a reply to that either. This is the last attempt that we made to cancel, and we felt we had no reason to believe that they didn't receive it. We did not receive any "Mail not delivered" messages about the email.

4. Drummond Lodge made a charge of $128.95 to our VISA.

5. When we saw the charge, we called Drummond Lodge to complain. We thought they should refund us the money, but they refused. The owner was rude to us on the phone, and accused my wife of lying about canceling the reservation.

6. We decided to let VISA decide, so we gave the facts to them, and sent copies of the cancellation emails to them.

7. We wrote a poor review of Drummond Lodge on TripAdvisor.com. In that review were the same facts as listed above, and our opinions of their business practices.

8. VISA refunded our money.

9. Drummond Lodge called our house several times. We were not home, and they did not leave messages, but we saw that it was them from call display.

10. We received the email from Drummond Lodge (from [--]) saying that this was the "last notice", though in fact it was the first we heard that they were upset.

11. We immediately contacted TripAdvisor.com to remove the previous review, and replace it with this review, which contains only facts.

12. We emailed Drummond Lodge ([--]) to let them know that we contacted TripAdvisor.com to remove the review, let them know that we are resubmitting a new review with only facts, and asked that they not phone us, but email us if they wish to discuss this further.

There you go. You make your decisions about Drummond Lodge based on these facts!

Thanks all!

“Distinctly average hotel - try to avoid Williams Lake if possible”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2008

We only stayed for one night, on the way from wonderful Bella Coola to Jasper.

The Drummond Lodge came up on Tripadvisor as the number 1 accomodation in Williams Lake. Having driven past some of the other properties this might be right (as some of the others look quite grim), but doesn't mean The Drummond Lodge is a nice place to stay.

The rooms were clean, the bed was just ok but the room was nothing special. The toilet was broken and we couldn't flush it anymore halfway through the night.

The balconies are indeed overlooking the lake as mentioned on their website, however they fail to mention the other half of your view is on some industrial site.

If you HAVE to stay in Williams Lake not a bad place to spend one night. However, having driven around Wiliams Lake I would suggest it's best to avoid the place if at all possible.

“Best Motel in Williams Lake”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 March 2008

This motel is a gem. . The owners Kevin and Jennifer Joung have really turned this place around and are a lovely couple. They are very willing to accomodate your needs. Many of the rooms have been updated and have new bathrooms. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are nicely decorated and most importantly, everything is spotless. It's not 4 star (nothing is in Williams Lake) but it is comfortable and clean. Jennifer serves the continental breakfast in the morning. We were treated to warm cinnamon buns, manderin oranges, yougurt and fresh coffee or tea. Wouldn't stay anywhere else again. Thank you Kevin and Jennifer.

  • Liked — It's cleanliness and polite owners
  • Disliked — Noise from hot water in pipes under the cabin.

“Best hotel I have found in BC!”

What a wonderful surprise! Excellent view from every room over the beautiful Williams Lake. Almost all rooms have a wood deck facing the lake with a very nice grassy and shady garden area. The rooms are spotless and well appointed. DSL ethernet connections in every room. This motel is owned by a very nice fellow who was gracious and accomodating. The rates are very reasonable. There is a nice easy walk to the nature island on the lake. So far, the nicest place we have stayed in all of Canada at any price.

  • Liked — Very nice owner who provides excellent service, very well appointed rooms.
  • Disliked — Hi-Speed internet is not wireless but Ethernet. Not really a problem at all.
