We checked in to the Hotel after a very long and exhausting day of driving, only to be disgusted by the absolute filth of our room. To charge $80.00 (Government Rate + tax = $90.40) to stay here was beyond ridiculous, in our opinion, but nonetheless we were exhausted at the time. We had already given our credit card information at the front desk, and it was easier to stay, rather than look elsewhere for accommodation.
We stayed in room #241, and the Housekeeper obviously had done a very poor job of cleaning the room prior to our arrival, as we found ourselves picking someone else’s nail clippings out of the carpet between the beds soon after we arrived. The windows overlooking the parking lot were beyond filthy and could have used a good washing sometime within the months earlier, what with the layers of dirt obviously caked onto them. The right hand side double windows did not lock whatsoever , and could have been quite accessible to anyone from the outside, as there is a flat rooftop just a mere foot below. On a side note here, this balcony had a childs toy, what looked like some sort of underwear, and a pair of sunglasses on it, obviously dropped from an above room’s window. They should have been picked up by the Maintenance person and disposed of well before our, or any other guests arrival. The bathroom door did not lock, and probably hadn’t for quite some time. The knob was bent at an angle making it difficult to turn and affecting the ability of the door to close. We must admit, every time we shut the bathroom door we had the feeling that the door would not open again afterwards. The remote control for the television did not work at all, and it might have been nice for the alarm clock to have been plugged in and perhaps even set to the correct time, as opposed to the cord dangling freely behind the night stand.
The only positive thing about this Hotel was the elderly fellow who checked us in at 10:00 p.m on the evening of September 22nd, as he was quite pleasant. The woman who was working at the front desk on the morning of September 23rd was a bit of a different story. She asked how our room was and when we told her, she proceeded to get a ’repair’ log of some kind and started to fill it in. An apology, or perhaps even a reduced room rate might have been more appropriate, but we don’t think it even entered her mind. My wife even said at the time, that she was going to write this complaint letter, and it didn’t even seem to faze the woman.
We hope the cleanliness of this Hotel improves, as in our minds, they will be receiving more letters of complaint like this in the months to come if the conditions remain the same.
