“Hideous - Don't Do It”

Terrible motel. Staff isn't trained to process payment correctly, sorting out the receipt was a labored ordeal. Room was bad. There was a hole in the upper portion of the bathroom sink that was rotting.

I can see that the Hojo business model is to buy a bad local motel, throw their modern sign out front and dupe you into believing you'll receive a higher standard than you in fact will.

“Not so great”

My room was fine. I loved the white, washable clean duvet cover.
However when my partner tried to call me to say she was home safely nobody answered the phone and it was 8 pm. She tried and tried, finally got the bar and they were rude and hung up. I had a night of worry as I didn't have a cell phone. When I asked if I could make a call on my credit card the man at the desk said no and that I should go out and buy a card with phone minutes. No service from staff at all.
When I had to stay another night I told the girl at the desk but when I came back that night my entry card key didn't work as I hadn't paid. You have to pay in advance for every night.
My hall smelled of pot. Kind of good.

Room Tip: don't go

“For an indifferent reception and filthy rooms, look no further!”

I stayed here for work when the Coast Fraser up the hill was booked. My visit started unpromisingly with a sign at the front desk indicating internet service would not be available for two weeks. After signing in with the rude receptionist, I went upstairs through a hallway stinking of beer to my run-down, terribly shoddy room. Weather conditions at the time were freezing overnight with daytime highs of only 8-10C, but the room heater would not work. Why? Someone had disconnected the electrical wiring within the thermostat! Coarse sheets on thin mattress. Brownish splatter stains on the wall and the sides of the exposed mattress. Choice of torn or stained bath towel. Visible dirt all over floors. Filthy coffee maker with coffee residues in filter and carafe. Shower with immoveable shower head. Complete inability to regulate temperature even with the thermostat hotwired (heater on full blast or not at all). Thin walls allowing surveillance of every noise in adjoining rooms that would put the Stasi to shame. Did not have the courage to try the in-house restaurant, Fanny's, but apparently neither did anyone else during my two days in town. Truly one of the worst places I have ever stayed. Do yourself a favour and book ahead at the Coast Fraser up the hill.

“Scary horrible!”

This was our first stop on our trip to Alaska and the worst hotel I have ever stayed at! The walls were paper thin and we could hear every word of the conversations in the next room. The sheets were cheap and rough. Very little sleep that night, next time I'll stay elsewhere.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere, Super 8 is just up the road and a thousand times better.

“What a dive!! Don't stay here!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2011

We first stayed here in July of 2009 for a weekend when I came to Williams Lake to meet my new granddaughter. We required accomodations that accepted dogs. This was the only place we could find. Little did I know that people lived full time in this hotel. The whole hotel reeked of cigarette smoke and horrible cooking smells from the kitchenette suites. The furniture was worn and outdated. The second time I stayed here was by accident in June 2011 for almost a week. This time I was here for my daughter's graduation. They had changed the name to the Howard Johnson and I didn't realize it was the same place or else I would not have chosen it again. The teenager who was working the front desk had her visiting friend show us to our room. This time around there were no people living in the main building but there were still people living in the rooms in the building out back. (we saw the RCMP go there a few times) They had since evicted those living in the main building. The only renovations that had been done in two years was new carpet, a paint job, replaced keys with door access cards and flat screen tv's in some suites, still had the old furniture and worn linens and is still dirty but didn't smell as bad as the first time. There was one ironing board and iron for the whole hotel to share. Our first night there we ended up beneath a bunch of guys from ADT who were installing systems in town.....for hours all we heard was "thump thump thump" above our heads after a ten hour drive. I finally went to the front desk after having complained twice over the phone and demanded a refund and told them that I wanted to leave! I was "upgraded" to a "suite" at midnight for my troubles. It was just as run down...just bigger. The bar in the building played loud music or karaoke late into the night.....and as the other reviewer stated.....could make out every drunken word they were singing! The staff who cleaned our room complained about management and told us that it was up for sale AGAIN......even told us they were paid in cash! I could go on and on about this place. The whole town is a crap hole and run down! Thank goodness my daughter is leaving there for University in August.....
