We had such a brilliant week, my partner and I. For me, I feel this may have been life-changing. It has certainly transformed my relationship to nature and has had some kind of impact on my views about life. The three magic ingredients of our week were:
1) the people at Cross River whether the entertaining, knowledgeable & charismatic Gourmet chef (Brad) , the thought-provoking, caring and deep-thinking guide (Troy) with all of his First Nations songs that touch the soul or the wise, loving and unique First Nations elder (Sequoyah).
2)the countryside - this corner of the world is so stunning and we really loved communing with nature. The one thing we had been scared about- coming face-to-face with yogi bear- turned out to be an ungrounded fear. To my partner's disappointment, we did not catch so much as a sniff of a bear. They intend to avoid humans (I'd probably do the same if I were a bear), especially in groups. You would need to be fortunate and extremly observant to catch even a distant glimpse of any bear, in my view.
3)the ethos of the place - its earth-friendly business approach, relying on renewable energy, taking pains on camping trips to look after the landscape. It was so peaceful.
