“My Top Pic on Hwy 97”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 April 2011

I have had the pleasure of staying at the Lac La Hache Motel on several occasions on my forays to and from Barkerville where I operate the St. George Hotel. I am so impressed with the cleanliness, the modern amenities, crown mouldings and the Awesome Bathroom Fixtures! Staying there is just like being in my own home. When I take reservations for my own hotel, I always recommend the LLH Motel to my guests who prefer to take 2 days travelling up the Gold Rush Trail. Great Value and Excellent view of the Lake. Kudos to the proprietors!

This motel is clean ,very well equipped and in a beautiful location situated on Lac la Hache. It is privately owned and the couple take a great pride in it.You have an outside seating area overlooking the lake.Only down side is it is situated on Highway 97 ,but I did not find it overly noisy at night .

“Great and spotless place”

We did not expect much for $70.00. Instead we were surprised with a bright spotless room with two beds, microwave, refrigerator, flat screen TV. The motel does not provide breakfast but we brought our own stuff and ate in the morning at the small table by the window. I want to emphasize how clean was this place. Bedroom and bathroom sparkled. Sheets were freshly white and crisp, colorful flowers outside created inviting atmosphere. Each room has two doors. The back door faces the lake with loons laughing in the evening. There are bright plastic chairs on the back we used for sitting and enjoying the lake. Unfortunately we couldn't stay too long because a smoke from wildfires became too thick. I also worried about a noise because this motel is right off the busy and noisy highway. It felt like all trucks were driving through our room. Then from 10:30 pm we had a quiet night until 5 am when all truck drivers started their day. After all for $70.00 it was a great place to stay and we definitely would stay there again.

“Don't overlook this gem”

Lac La Heche Motel was recommended to me by the owners of Two Rivers Lodge outside of Smithers, on the bank of the Bulkley River. They run a wonderful establishment and should be a good source. Well, it turned out to be a gem! I did not read the first review until I returned and agree with everything they said. The only addition I have to offer is that it seems like all the rooms have been completely rebuilt. I even think the windows were new. The work they have done is evident, the rooms are spotless and beautiful and the price is reasonable.

“Peace by the lake”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 April 2006

Lac la Hache is the longest town in the Cariboo in central British Columbia, just over half way between Vancouver and Prince George. The motel sits on a fairly large lake that is not inundated with condos and hotels. The Lac la Hache Motel is at the south end of the town and sits just above the lake. Each unit has a door both at the front from where you enter from the parking lot and at the back from where you can enjoy a sitting area that overlooks the lake. I thoroughly enjoy sitting there watching the abundant wild life, always a thrill.

The hotel is one of the cleanest places in which I have ever stayed. Each room has either one or two double beds, a private bathroom with tons of hot water, a table and chairs by the back window (overlooking the lake) and cable TV. There is a micro wave and a coffee maker in the room and the owners will go out of their way to make you comfortable. This motel is also one of the least expensive places along this highway and comes highly recommended.

Only 100 meters from the motel is the Eidelweiss Restaurant that serves excellent food in a pleasant atmosphere. If the weather is good, they have a deck overlooking the lake from where you can enjoy your meal.
