“you wouldn't know you were in the Rockies”

Service is on the ball. they speak many languages, and read emails 24-7.
now...
Keeping in mind that you are in the middle of the rockies and there is only campgrounds, this place is great. It's the only place between Fort.Nelson and Watson Lake that has hotel rooms, with a flushable toilet in each room. your not camping your in a hotel.
Things to know and respect.
The whole lodge runs on Diesel Generators. burning around 6000 litres of Fuel a month, so turn off the tv and your lights, don't burn the hot water.
The food comes by truck, from Alberta, thats why its not cheap. but I suggest to take one plate and share. the plates a huge.
The rooms a nice an cosy and warm. the beds are ok but I suggest to bring your own pillow.

But by far the best morning Coffee in the world. My suggestion take you coffee to the front porch, sit down and watch the sun rise or just look a what nature has to offer. nothing can beat that.

Room Tip: winter- call in advance. bring warm clothes if your plan to hike. arrive in day light summer- reser...

“Miserable”

This stay might have been more enjoyable if their cabins were still open, but we missed them by about a week. So we were forced to stay in the main lodge. They say they are pet friendly, but its more like pets accepted. Even though this was one of the most expensive stays on our ALCAN trip they gave us a crappy, little room in the basement. The rooms are TINY, and LOUD. You can hear everything outside your door. We stayed here because it was a good half way point and they were “pet friendly”. The only reason they deserve a two star review is because the property was stunning beautiful, and the restaurant was by far the best food we had on our trip. I think if the beach front cabins were still going the stay would have been much better. So if you have big dogs and have to stay in the main lodge, try at all cost to avoid the Northern Rockies Lodge.

Room Tip: Avoid the main lodge basement rooms.

“Northern Rockies Lodge - you betcha!!”

We travel the Alcan often and look forward to our stay at the Northern Rockies Lodge. Its located on Muncho Lake with the Rockies looking down at you. Urs and Marianna are great hosts. Their staff is friendly, helpful and efficient, the chef and resturant staff are great, and the food - well all I can say is that I look forward to the variety and the salad and soup is one of my favorites! The rooms are spacious European sparce and very clean and comfortable with crisp sheets and thick towels. The grounds are well kept and great for a walk along the lake and there's a sauna too! This mountain resort rivals many in the south. you may even stay a day or two longer just to enjoy the area or take a sightseeing or flyin fishing trip. After a long drive of beautiful scenery and dodging many animals, I am thankful that the hosts and staff of Northern Rockies Lodge are there to greet us at any time of the year. If you drive past you have missed a great stay!!!

“Best Hotel of our trip in the European style.”

We stayed at Northern Rockies in early September. We arrived early and our room was ready. The room was slightly more expensive than other properties, but we felt it was worth the 5 or 10 dollars more than other properties in the North. The hotel is a log building that is nearly 40 feet tall. The rooms are good size with the sink being in the main part of the room, and the toilet and tub are in a separate part of the suite. The staff was attentive and the restaurant was good but expensive. You do get a larger portion than normal and you could split most dishes, like the hamburger and the schnitzel. The morning breakfast buffet was decent, but get there early, as I did not see items getting replenished. They do not have the buffet every day. They have a gas station here. It is not cheap. They do give a discount on fuel if you stay at the lodge. If you can fill up at Watson Lake or Chance Creek, you can probably get all the way to Fort Nelson.

So, Marianne the owner will send you a confirmation email after you make your reservation. READ IT. I did not. I arrived at found that I had booked for the night before. A room sat empty while I was at a much lesser place 1/2 hour away, that cost $5 less.

You can fly in here. They have a sea plane base at their property and have flightseeing tours.

If you want to see wild animals, this is a prime location. There are stone sheep just around the corner, moose, cariboo, bison. Spend a day or 2 looking around the area. You will be rewarded.

“Excellent Customer Service and Accommodations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2011

Northern Rockies is truly a home away from home. The property, and the lodge is very clean, and they ensure that they keep it very clean and tidy so that it meets the customer's expectations.

Northern Rockies Lodge, not only offers lodge rooms, but they also have a few motel rooms, along with cabins and chalets (some of which are at the waterfront), and then some RV and tenting sites as well. In addition to these accommodations, they also offer flights for (sightseeing, and fishing tours into desolate waters).

We stayed in one of the lodge rooms, and the room was very tidy, and clean, and they took pride in making sure that it was in a great state for their customers. The beds were very comfortable, and we had a great sleep.

The restaurant has very good food, and we tried their specialty the "wiener schnitzel". This was very good, and is recommended for anyone. For breakfast they occasionally have a breakfast buffet that consists of the usual breakfast fare, and they have a separate seating section for both the general public, and the "bush pilots". The food is a little bit pricey, but makes up for it with the quality and quantity of the food. For those who have smaller appetites, you may want to share food, as the portions are very big, but if you do, you need to ensure that it each person spends a minimum of 8$.

There is also a tuck shop for general toiletries, and souvenirs, ice cream, and clothing. In addition to the tuck shop, they also have a tack area where you can look for certain fishing gear.

For those of you who are into hiking, and other recreational activities there is a lot of opportunity. Also those who are interested in wildlife, there is an abundant amount that hang around this area. There is the chance of the seeing the typical Northern Rocky Trench Animals such as stone sheep, bears (grizzly, black), wolves, moose, caribou and so on.

Overall, the accommodations, and food was excellent, and the customer service was exceptional. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in having a great home away from home with good hospitable staff.

Room Tip: Ask for a lodge room on the first floor, this level is quite comfortable.
