My usual hotel in Red Deer was full, so I booked in at the Ramada. The front desk staff were fantastic- cheery and helpful!!! The room itself was clean, however the hallway was another matter. I generally don't care about this kind of stuff, but I was surprised at how dirty and worn out the hallway carpets were. Speaking of which, the hallway noise was excessive inside the room, although a certain portion of this could be blamed on loud talkers and inconsiderate guests.
The Ramada caters to the blue collar crowd(to which I belong), and this results in later-than-normal hallway traffic accompanied by excessive booze-fueled chatter, which woke me up twice. Can't really blame the hotel for this, I guess. My room was facing 67th Street, and the engine retarder brakes could be heard throughout the night as well- I would recommend a room that faces south, away from 67th.
One issue that was particulary was the lack of parking. I left the hotel for dinner and upon my return(8 PM) discovered there was virtually no parking available in the lot. I can't imagine where you would park if you arrived after 9 PM, unless there's a secret parking lot I'm not aware of.
On the plus side, the in-room wireless internet is pretty quick. The complimentary hot breakfast isn't bad, as long as you're not opposed to listening to worksite-type chatter while you eat. Tim Horton's is a 30 second walk from the front door, if that's something you prefer.
All in all, I rate the Ramada as merely average, but it will work in a pinch.
