“OK in a pinch”

My usual hotel in Red Deer was full, so I booked in at the Ramada. The front desk staff were fantastic- cheery and helpful!!! The room itself was clean, however the hallway was another matter. I generally don't care about this kind of stuff, but I was surprised at how dirty and worn out the hallway carpets were. Speaking of which, the hallway noise was excessive inside the room, although a certain portion of this could be blamed on loud talkers and inconsiderate guests.

The Ramada caters to the blue collar crowd(to which I belong), and this results in later-than-normal hallway traffic accompanied by excessive booze-fueled chatter, which woke me up twice. Can't really blame the hotel for this, I guess. My room was facing 67th Street, and the engine retarder brakes could be heard throughout the night as well- I would recommend a room that faces south, away from 67th.

One issue that was particulary was the lack of parking. I left the hotel for dinner and upon my return(8 PM) discovered there was virtually no parking available in the lot. I can't imagine where you would park if you arrived after 9 PM, unless there's a secret parking lot I'm not aware of.

On the plus side, the in-room wireless internet is pretty quick. The complimentary hot breakfast isn't bad, as long as you're not opposed to listening to worksite-type chatter while you eat. Tim Horton's is a 30 second walk from the front door, if that's something you prefer.

All in all, I rate the Ramada as merely average, but it will work in a pinch.

“Never again!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2011

This was a very disappointing discovery. We were looking forward for a two night stay and to have fun at the waterslide. I left the next morning before ever going to the pool with our kids. When I arrived I loaded my own luggage on a trolley while the front desk girl had a cigarette right in front of me. Everytime I walked out the front entrance I had to go through cigartte smoke from guests smoking out front. The walls were paper thin and I thought the people above us were going to come through the ceiling. I got no sleep and couldn't wait to check out. They did give me half price off my room and cancelled my second night stay with no charge. This hotel needs a total overhaul. I need sleep!!

“Suite??? Seriously....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2010

Last night I stayed at the Ramada on 67th in Red Deer. I was disappointed to say the least. I don't consider myself picky but if you spend nearly $200 on a hotel room for a SUITE it should represent what it sells. I have stayed in many suites and there were not like this. It was a normal room with a king bed, crappy carpet and the bunk bed suite was similar to a closet with bunk beds. Kind of dissapointing.
I commented when I left this morning and the lady at the front desk kindly said hmm I haven't really been in the rooms I don't know what they're like??? Is this not on the first day of work tour? How can you sell what you don't know what it is?
The hotel was more run down than I expected so next time I believe I will book at the Comfort Inn next door. I am even a Wyndam member but I will not pick Ramada first anymore they are usually great hotels but this disappointed.

“Ramada changed name and increased rates”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2010

I have stayed at this hotel many times for work and leisure. It was a Service Plus Inn for the longest time until Ramada took it over. It is still the same hotel but more expensive now. The jacuzzi suite used to cost me $120 and is now $200! The jacuzzi tub is just an oversized bath tub that me and my wife can barely fit in.

The cleanliness and staff of the hotel are great! The beds are comfortable and come with nice heavy robes (in the jacuzzi suites anyways). There is a resaurant as well as a Tim Hortons in the same parking lot which is handy. Close to shopping. I have no problems with this hotel other than the price increase for the change in name.

“Great front desk staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2009

I was booked in another hotel (who overbooked and only had a smoking room left) and that hotel recommened service plus. The front guest staff are awesome! Thanks for all the tips of places to eat and being so friendly!

The room is fine, could use some newer TV's! Pretty quiet hotel except for kids running up the hallway a bit, but you find that anywhere with a waterslide.

Breakfast was ok!
