My girlfriend and I stayed there on July 1 and 2, 2011. The room was clean. No issues that way at all. The staff was pleasant. A couple of issues do need attention though - the ceiling in our room, had suffered some water damage or repairs, but had been spot painted all over, a heck of a mess. No huge deal, these things happen. The continental breakfast however, well, there was some issues there. When we checked in, we were told it ran ran from 6:30 to 10. Yes, 10. I am very sure, as I have had issues in the past on this matter. I took very good care to note the time. When we attended at 9:20, there was almost nothing left, no eggs (though referred to on the materials and by the host) all the juice was gone, milk was all gone, it was like it had been stipped by wild animals. Tehre was a few muffins, and there was still some mix to make waffles. The toaster was a four slice toaster, with a sign that advised it could only make 2 at a time.
I complained. I was gentle about it, but darn it, I was looked forward to soft boiled eggs. I was told that breakfast ended at 9:30. I went to the desk, they said the same thing. Okay, I'll be there much earlier next time. Did I mention that I really really make note of the times of these things? I was very clear that the check in fellow said 10.
The next day, at 8:30, we are there. Again, it looks like wild animals have been through. by 8:45 there is no more batter for the waffles. Guests are told "sorry, that is all". There is eggs! They are hard boiled as promised, and very good eggs! Thank you! BUT, no milk except some kind of diet milk, all the juice is gone, the toaster is still the two slice kind. The guests in the room were making jokes all over about the breakfast, sort of a hardship that resulted in a bonding experience. One group had been there for 4 breakfasts, and said it was always like that.
The hotel was a reasonably price, and I was glad to have it. I was left pleased with the experience with the staff, but really disappointed with the breakfast experience. That continental breakfast was a significant selling point to me, and instead I had the impression that it was set up like a cattle call - put everything out at 6:30, and that's it, and if it runs out on a busy time, well, tough luck. A frustrating experience.
I would go back again, but as I checked in I would be asking about breakfast, when, where, what it there at what time. Shouldn't have to do that really - not asking for bacon and fried eggs, just some toast that can be toasted, hard boiled eggs, milk and a bit of juice.
