“Home away from home”

My wife and I used the Bear's Den as a base for a Xmas ski vacation with our son and his girlfriend. The Den was private, both for us as a group and as couples. Others have extolled its virtues, we could not agree more ....... However, when travelling, people make the difference and the owner's, Lydia and Gerry, made one feel as if visiting good old friends. Before arriving, they had even set up a Xmas tree for us! Hopefully the next time we visit "the kids", the Den's available.

Room Tip: The suite is perfect for one wishing the amenities of a condensed home. Booking the entirely separa...

“Beautiful B&B in an amazing place.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

This was our first trip to Jasper. The Bear's Den is walking distance from the downtown restaurants and shopping. The B&B is very well decorated and very clean. Plenty of room for all our hiking gear too. The owners were on vacation themselves during our visit and the caretaker, Val was the most helpful person we ran into on our two weeks in the Rockies.

Room Tip: We were in the Bear's Den room which is smaller than the Whistler's Suite but it was plenty...

“Good location, great suite, amazing hosts”

We stayed in the Whistler Suite for 3 nights in November. The house is right by the main streets in Jasper, next to the trails leading up to the mountains, and a short walk to the train station.

The suite was an entire basement suite with a kitchen (full-sized, stocked with all usual appliances, and common ingredients), washer/dryer (and laundry powder), and living room (with stereo, and TV, and coffee-table books...) The place was impeccably clean and tidy. For the same cost as a mid-range hotel, this is by far a better option.

Lydia and Gerry were amazing hosts, who went out of their way to help us get familiar with the area, showed us things to do and places to go, and helpful advice about the subsequent train travels. I wish them all the best, and this would definitely be where I'd prefer to stay if I were to be in Jasper again.

“Awesome B&B”

My husband and I stayed in the Bear's Den room for 4 nights in mid-September. This B&B's location is just perfect. It's just a few minutes walk into the town of Jasper. We had breakfast at the Bear's Paw twice and then had full breakfasts the other 2 days at a restaurant that I can't remember the name of. But there are several restaurants that serve a nice breakfast for $6.95, 2 eggs, hash browns and toast. We loved having our own entrance to our room. It was spotlessly clean and had a huge flat screen t.v. Also, this had the best internet connection of our entire trip. Lydia and Gerry, the proprietors, were awesome! They were the nicest people ever and most helpful in giving advice on where to hike or eat or whatever. I highly recommend this B&B.

“Top quality centrally located self contained apartment”

My wife & I stayed in the Whistler Suite for 3 nights in September. Located just a couple of minutes walk from the main street of Jasper, Connaught Drive.

You have your own separate self contained apartment complete with full kitchen and laundry facilities located below the main house at basement level with its' own front door. Plenty of natural light is provided via ground level windows. Car parking on the street in front of the house.

Lounge is fully equipped with large flat screen TV, DVD (excellent collection of current films - must be around 100 in total), iPod dock and sound system. Lydia, our host, was always available upstairs to answer any questions that we had regarding the local area and excursions. Excellent large bathroom with quality toiletries provided. Breakfast is available down the street at the bakery but we chose to self cater during our stay. Everything in the Whistler Suite looks and functions as new. Highly recommended.

Make sure you do the Mt Edith Cavell short trail to Angel Glacier and if you are feeling energetic onward and upward to Cavell Meadow. Great photo opportunity on a clear day.
