“A christmas winter wonderland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

Our family of five stayed in mid december (two adults and two young children 6&4 and mother in law)

we booked the two rooms and our young family had the downstairs bedroom area, with two queen beds and my mother in law had the upstairs honeymoon room. It was a devine stay, eash room was overflowing with christmas decorations and at night the lights on the house, in my daughters words "it is like a candy cane house". Annelise, was incredibly knowledgeable about what was available for us in winter and a very kind host. My mother in law in particular enjoyed her company and conversation.

“Great Family Vacation”

I recently stayed at the Austrian Haven with my mom and sister during a two day stop in Jasper on our train trip across Canada. The accommodations were excellent, very clean and plenty of room for the three of us in the family suite. The location is excellent as it is very close to everything in Jasper. Annelies was wonderful, with lots of interesting stories and advise on things to do, places to eat, etc. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Jasper.

“Great B&B for Exploring Jasper National Park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

We had the opportunity to stay at Austrian Haven for three nights and couldn't have been more satisfied. Annelies runs a great B&B that is perfect for exploring both the town and park.

The two upstairs rooms are both beautiful and we had a choice as we were the only guests at the time. We chose the one with the beautiful sitting area looking out onto the mountains and were glad we did. Eating breakfast each morning looking out onto the mountains was fantastic.

Because of local laws, B&B's in Jasper do not provide a cooked breakfast (most are simply self-catering), but Annelies provides a great alternative. Each room has a coffee maker, tea pot, toaster and refrigerator and comes stocked with bread, fruit, butter, jam, peanut butter, milk, juice and a variety of cereals. Annelies also provided some great fresh banana bread. It was a pleasure to wake up and have a leisurely breakfast in the room.

The location of the B&B is great... convenient to local hiking and a five minute walk into town. Annelies provides great recommendations for day trips and restaurants and is a pleasure to talk to... just a fun, upbeat lady who really seems to enjoy interacting with guests.

Wifi and cable are also provided (not that you'll be spending a ton of time in your room) and there is plenty of on-street parking.

“One of the highlights of my travels, staying here........”

I decided to stay here on the train stopover across Canada, instead of an impersonal motel or expensive resort hotel. The reviews here convinced me to reserve a place here at Austrian Haven, where I will be leaving today after three nights. This is a beautiful home and accomodation, and the credit goes to Anneliese, a senior citizen of great charm, personality, and energy. All the positives by other reviewers are true. ( One of the few negatives that has been mentioned is the " Basic Breakfast " which is OK, but there is not a hot meal provided, as is the case in some B&Bs. This is because of licensing laws, but this lady already has enough work to do, running this place singlehandedly. ) The house is spotless, the gardens are gorgeous, the dogs and cats friendly, and the decor and little touches remarkable. Anneliese gave me a tour last night of other rooms in the house, her creations. Need I say more?

“Could be called Austrian Heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

First there is Annelies. She is so upbeat and willing to provide directions and suggestions to places you may not have thought of. She has enlarged the original home and has personally built most of the addition - from digging the footing for the foundation to erecting walls, making some of the furniture and many of the crafs you will find there. Her work in the gardens that greet you are the first indication of what awaits. It is as though she has been anxiously preparing for your visit. She has bought fresh bread, milk, cereal and fruits for your morning appetite. You have a private entrance that admits you to a comfortable setting. Everything is clean and inviting. This B&B is located within walking distance to restaurants and shops. We wanted to stay five nights but there only three available during the time period we had selected so Annelies provided the names of other people we could contact. She has bookings that stretch out well into the future so it is best to book when you have determined a confirmed travel period. We stayed at a wonderful B&B in Cranbrook and one of the other guests said they had tried to stay at the Austrian Haven but there were no openings.
