We usually stay in cabins when we visit Jasper so can’t say how Miette House compares to other guest houses in the area, but overall impressions were good and the house was neat, well situated and run by very warm and welcoming hosts. Located within easy walking distance from the town centre, the building is a tad featureless, but spotless and well maintained, with a couple of outside tables for guests to enjoy and plenty of parking on the street outside. There are six rooms, four of which are located in the basement, with nos. 1&2 on the ground floor. Ashley welcomed us and showed us to our room (No.1) and urged us to contact her if we needed anything. Although small, our room was clean and perfectly adequate for our needs, coming with a flat screen TV, coffee machine and bathroom with bath. The bed was comfortable and we slept well, though we did hear groups of people walking back along the street late at night and our room was close to the front door which could potentially have been a problem but wasn’t. Guests can also make use of the impeccable kitchen to store or cook their food/meals (no breakfast is provided and they are not licensed to operate an oven, but a microwave is available, as is a large fridge) and a couple of washing/drying machines which come in very handy if you are out hiking. The owners also run a restaurant (and offer a 10% discount to guests) and will store your bags for you if you are away on a multi-day hike. Miette Guest House is an excellent option for those on a restricted budget and provides better value/service than many of Jasper’s cheaper hotels. We highly recommend it.

Miette Guest House is conveniently located, just a short walk to the centre of town. Accommodations are basic, but our room was very clean and quite comfortable. The owners were extremely friendly and happy to recommend local restaurants and sites. Walls are thin though, so we did awake to the sound of small children running in the hall outside the room.

Great value and we'd certainly stay here again.

We were greeted in Alberta by greedy park rangers wanting a $8.50 each per day entry fee to the national park, you can avoid paying this if you're not staying overnight. Miette House ins in a great location, short walk to town. Soto greated us and gave us the gen on the accomodation, as his wife Ashley was not well. He did a great job of informing us of the local places of interest and the wildlife, of which there's plenty. No frills here, no brekky, but plenty to choose from in Jasper. Loads of eating places to suit all tastes. Our hosts also run a bar & bistro in Jasper and give discount. Jasper even has a cinema. Make sure you visit Athabasca falls.

Miette Guest House ticked all the right boxes for my wife & I. Our unit was very comfortable & spotless, as were the shared kitchen, eating & laundry facilities. An easy 7 min stroll put you in the centre of town or at the train station, which was important to us as we had no car. Ashley & Soto were extremely friendly, always interested in our activities & ever ready to offer advice & suggestions. We also enjoyed our meal at their Downstream Restaurant. When our stay at Miette was reduced by 1 day, in order to connect with the train service back to Vancouver, Soto did not hesitate to refund our money. It was totally unexpected and typical of his friendly attitude. If we are ever fortunate enough to visit Jasper again we know where will stay.
