We arrived very late (well after 8pm) and had no issue checking in and finding our cabin (rooms 27 and 28, with a connecting door) for our 3 night stay. I'm not sure I would book these separately, as only room 28 has the kitchen and dining room table (and one queen bed), while room 27 has 2 beds. Both have fireplaces and a log cabin feel. There isn't a huge amount of space, it was a little awkward to navigate around the two suitcases in each room.
The bathrooms are clean but small - no shelf to store toiletries around the sink.
Whilst we used the in room facilities for breakfast, there is an option of joining other guests for a complimentary continental breakfast in the main building, which is also where the spa is located. There is no on-site restaurant, but the Best Western next door has a lovely restaurant plus there are several options in town (I liked Smitty's for a good family restaurant).
The lodge is located at the far end of town, you can walk to the centre of Jasper but if you are looking for a short walk, chose another location.
We used it as a base to head to Maligne Lake, Angel Glacier and Athabasca Falls, plus the generally beautiful scenery around the Jasper area.
Probably the biggest plus is the staff. We were having a few challenges during our trip and the staff at Bear Hill Lodge went the extra mile to try and help us out, even after we had checked out.
Whilst at the time we were staying there, we weren't overly 'wowed' by Bear Hill Lodge, as we were driving away, we all agreed that this was a lovely place to stay and something a little different to the hotels we'd normally stay at.
