“Decent motel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I think most of the reviews here are a bit harsh. It's a bit older than a lot of the hotels, but it's also cheap. I never had any problems with smoke or anything like that. I would probably return here because of the great value for money, there is a couple of negatives though. THe hallway noise is so loud, unfortunately. But it did seem like there was grown men running up and down the hallway too. The location is great, but bad at the same time. It was handy with the super heavy bags we(my brother and I) had, when we got off the train, as it was just across the road, but there's trains going through at all hours of the night.
The hotel itself, I can't really fault too much though.

“Older property in the heart of Jasper”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Stayed here for two nights on a family vacation. Reviews on TripAdvisor, as well as online pictures, convinced us to stay here. Never again, though. The property is in the heart of downtown Jasper on the main road in town and within walking distance of many restaurants and shops. But, the property is older and showing its age. There are only about eight parking spots available for approximately 30 guest rooms. If you're not lucky enough to get one of these spots, you have to drive around hoping to find a place to park on the street or need to park in one of two public parking areas that are two or three blocks from the hotel. Property has a pub in the back and smoke from the pub drifts into the lobby area, as well as the parking area access door. In addition, the train station is right across the street, so the arrival and departure of trains was noicy. If we ever make it back to Jasper, we will definately not stay here and stay at a property on the out-skirts of Jasper.

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the front of the hotel, as far away from the pub, as possible.

“this place is great.”

really was put off by the reviews on here after booking to stay here but wow alot of the reviews are so wrong!

We stayed for 2 weeks and yeah the hotel does need a little upgrade. But clean, friendly and the rooms were great what more could you ask for oh how about two great hot tubs on the roof with mountain views (and the sides were glass) ohh we had those too. well how about a steam room oh check. a bar check (and the noise from there isn't really anything) an italian resturant oh check. Oh maybe you want to stop slap bang in the middle of town as opposed to the top rated hotels on here which are a good 10-15 mins from town. Oh guess what it is. This place is great and i would go back in the blink of an eye!

Room Tip: any room really we stayed in 110 and it was great there are bigger and smaller

“Good, and bad, location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

I stayed at the Whistler's Inn for one night on a solo train trip. It was the perfect location for a solo traveller without a car, as it was close to the train station, right in the centre of town and close to restaurants and tours. However, the hotel is directly above a bar and it was really noisy until 3am. This is not the place to stay if you're after a quiet, restful sleep.
The rooms are dated, but large, clean and comfortable.

Room Tip: If possible, ask for a room away from Miette Avenue.

“Beware of this hotel!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2011

They only are interested in your money and no service is provided. When I was stuck on the Queen Charlotte’s Islands through disastrous weather, with no possibility to get to the main land, I called the hotel twice to change my reservation to two days later. They said there was no room available that day. Afterwards the hotel staff denied that I called twice (I could prove the contrary with a telephone bill) and they said actually there was space in the hotel. (I also could show by a correspondence through Booking.com how they had denied me a room). Too bad that the hotel general manager even does not have the professionalism and courtesy to apology for the mistakes and the omissions made by them. This shows a totally proof of mismanagement from the top down. So you better look for another hotel where the people give service and you feel welcome.
