This hostel is great if you are on a budget but still want to explore the great outdoors that is Jasper. However, it is a bit hidden and far away from the town center, which makes it a hazel to get to places if you don't have a vehicle.
The Sleep
Majority of the beds are in the basement in a semi-partitioned room. Each partition has 4-5 bunk beds in it. In my section there was very poor lighting and I needed the flashlight on my phone to look around. The bed was fairly typical of hostels and i did have a great sleep. Under the bed has a storage compartment large enough to put my pully luggage in it plus a few other items.
Social
The HI-Jasper has a great social space attached to the kitchen. The people were great and i ended up being a tour guide for a few of them (I've been to Jasper/Banff more than 30 times). Internet was available but the signal and speed were quite weak. I was relying on my data plan for most of the time. Note there is no breakfast in this hostel.
