“Fantastic Service!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We stayed at the Pocahontas Cabins in one of their motel suites on Jan. 29th, 2012. The gentleman working at the front desk was extremely polite and knowledgeable and went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed and that we were well taken care of. He even prepared a frozen pizza that I had purchased in the kitchen because we didn't have a stove in our suite. The room was very clean and well taken care of. The building was old and not very noise proof but we still quite enjoyed our stay. We would most certainly stay there again.

“Nice Place for a Winter Get Away”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

My girlfriends and I stayed in the Cedar Lodge for a weekend get away. I booked a room with a full kitchen, so we pre-planned and brought all our food for the weekend as there isnt a place to go out and eat unless you wanted to drive into Jasper or to HInton.

Our room was very nice and exactly what we were looking for... a place to relax. We spent most of the weekend watching movies or enjoying the out door hot tub.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a problem getting our furnace to work and they were there within 10 min of me reporting it to them.

“Motel rooms are cozy & cheap”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

I've stayed here 3 times, i like it because it's cheaper than staying in Jasper, i stay in the motel rooms at the back, i did book one of the larger cabins, but i didn't feel it was worth the extra money, so changed my room to the hotel room. I like it there, it is cozy. You can borrow movies from reception to take back and watch in your room, there is a small hot tub outside which is great under the stars especially in winter after a day of skiing. There is a mini games room with table tennis and pool. The restaurant is nice and has good food. In winter it is nice to have the free breakfast, it's just toast, cereal, fruit, tea & coffee, but thats all i ever want from a breakfast!
It is really close to Miette hot springs, and there are some really great hiking trails near by.
THe newly renovated bigger cabins in the middle of the area look fantastic, but way out of my budget for what i would ever want to spend on a room to stay in.
Twice that i've stayed there i've had a group of really loud people in the room next to me and had little sleep which sucked, but no fault of the hotel.

“Caution, the pictures are more beautiful than reality. Luxury dog cages.”

We had booked a 4-person pioneer cabin, andl for two days.
The first one we got was assigned No. 2 smelled not only like dogs but also the dog hairs you could find easily.
After we complained to the reception we got (2 young holiday workers, who have quite liked that we were complaining) number 4 assigned to us.
This smoke less on dog and was a little cleaner.
The cleaning crew reported that they were difficult to clean the carpets with the stuff they had available, but they have certainly tried there best.
At the check out the manager also admitted that the cabins where out to dated , and something and needed to be placed. ( eg carpet etc)
We did get about 40 U.S. dollars short but it was still the high cost of accommodation throughout the trip

Notice to readers.

Please be advised the Pioneer Two Bedroom cabins referred to in this review were physically removed from the Pocahontas Cabins property in December 2011. These units are currently being replaced by a new Log Cabin product called our “Miette Executive Suites” which are scheduled to open in early June, 2012.

“Road is a major drawback”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2011

We were uncertain what to expect given diversity of reviews on trip advisor. Luckily we had a new cabin which was not too close to the road. As a result our 4 night stay was fine, using it as a base for the area. Cabin was clean (although did hear other people complain about dog hair left behind) but smaller than expected - smaller than many of the hotel rooms elsewhere. Would not want to stay in older cabin and road noise is a problem everywhere unless windows are shut. For instance pool is located only a few yards from road which meant that it held little appeal. If located 1 km off highway it would be a delightful place. However, it is not cheap and we were amazed that it was fully booked all of the time we were there. If we return to jasper would stay at Patricia or pyramid lake resorts which really are in the wilderness (and closer to town as well)
