I used to stay here quite often a few years aho, but switched to the HI Express down the road. On a recent trip I could not get a reservation at the HI Express so opted to return for one night here. I am now reassured and convinced that I made the right choice to switch to the HI Express. I found the hotel rooms rather run down compared to the HI Express and the rates are generally 20% higher, for less benefits (i.e. no continental breakfast). I was also given a hard time at the front desk about receiving the government rate, insisting that I must have some special type of card. I work for the goverment on a contract basis and do not receive a card, but provided them some evidence (letter etc...) that proved that I was doing work for government. They said they would let it slide this time, but only this time. I never receive this kind of questioning at the HI Express with their government rate, having stayed over 20 nights per year at that hotel. Better and friendlier service at the HI Express. Sorry, I wanted to like this hotel, but just can't justify a return visit.
