I was in town for business. I decided to stay at the Stonebridge Hotel since I have stayed at the same brand in Ft Mac (which was a very pleasant experience compared to this).

Well first things first. At check in the front desk staff made me feel like I was an inconvenience to service. Not what I want to deal with when I have been travelling since 6am. The one clerk was busy checking people ahead of me in and there was another clerk that was sitting in the desk just off to the side making an obviously personal phone call. When it was my turn to check in, the clerk that was actually serving customers put ME on hold and answered 2 telephone calls and even made 1 room reservation as I stood there bags in hand waiting to be served at the front desk. My check in took approximately 20 minutes with the actual wait time behind the people in front of me and the telephone calls I was prioritized beneath.

Each day in the restaurants there was something wrong with my meal. The first night I was there I ordered the steak, it was made medium as that must have been the chef's preference. Even when I pointed it out that my meal was not cooked to my liking (rare-med rare), the server laughed it off, I was not very impressed that she did not offer to make it right. After that day I tried eating in the bar, the food was very, very greasy and overcooked to the point of being charred. I was so irritated that every other night I was in town I had to leave the building or order delivery each time I wanted to eat anything. This was a hassle for me since I was in town for another 5 days and the only restaurant relatively close (that was not fast food or a truck stop) was Boston Pizza.

There were 2 days during my trip when I had late meeting so I decided to make a late start and sleep in. Each morning that I tried to sleep in the maids were banging on my door by 9am and they encouraged for me not to have my room serviced. The other days during my stay they still did not clean my room they only replenished the amenities and towels and flipped the blanket over the bed. The sheets were not even put back on the bed properly. During my entire stay the maids only actually fully cleaned my room once.

I will never be back to this hotel.

I really like this hotel chain - specifically The one in Grande Prairie - Every time I stay here it's like coming home. The front desk staff is professional but still have a good sense of humor. Really liked saying here I really suggest the breakfast here it is fantastic! All the locals go here and I can see why - great friendly atmosphere!

I have to travel to GP every 2 months or so for a week on business - my first trip up there a colleague recommended the Stonebridge and I got a room on the 3rd floor that was newly renovated. Nice carpet/tile, a microwave and fridge, and a large TV... a spacious desk and ample plug-ins for all my work-associated electronics. Everything was nice, not spectacular, but convenient and well-appointed.

On my next trip up to GP I booked at the Stonebridge again, and I checked into a horrible, outdated, dubiously clean and non-renovated room on the first floor. There was not even one free outlet, and I need at least 3 to charge my laptop, printer, and Blackberry at the end of the day. The microwave kept quitting on me, and there was a spider residing in the bathtub every morning, despite my murder of his twin every previous morning.

The housekeeping staff, while friendly, constantly inquire as to whether you're "done" with the room every time you exit... one morning I left really early to grab some breakfast and eat in my room while doing paperwork and it was like an inquisition as to exactly what I was doing and how and when would I be back, and after answering questions every morning I felt a little as if my privacy were being invaded. Maybe the staff is finished work as soon as they get to every room, but feeling guilty about staying in until 9:30 doing paperwork should not be included in the price of the room.
